Looks like a mentioned target by many in here will be made available this winter...would you be willing to give up Bauer or a SP prospect in hopes of a rebound in production and 5 years of Ozuna?

Here's the thing - Chiz's BABIp is back to .298 and his wRC+ is still around 84. You're probably just hoping he can be an average offensive player (and his value comes from his defense.)

He's replacing Murphy who was having an above average offensive year.

So a bad offensive team is sacrificing some offense in RF for the defensive upside. Which makes sense considering how bad the defense was overall.

But that leaves only 3B, 1B, and CF as places to upgrade the offense.

1B will be hard w Santana and Johnson on the roster.

3B has Gio who we probably want to see more from and Yandy Diaz knocking on the door - so sinking any additional assets into this position seems a waste.

That leaves CF. Maybe you go get Colby Rasmus - but is that enough? Ozuna is one of the few other options that could realistically help provide offense from CF.

And that's the hard thing w Chiz. RF is probably the easiest place to find offensive help - lots of FA, Piug, Ozuna - it appears there will be options there that won't be present at the other positions.

So while a team like the Indians can't afford to lose a player like Chiz - it is also really limiting the ways they can improve this team this offseason.

You forgot to mention DH as a targeted position for the Tribe to upgrade. I would fully expect Antonetti to pursuit a DH/1B middle of the order type this offseason with a name like Adam Lind to keep in mind.

Yeah I don't disagree that's an area to upgrade - but with Santana and Johnson already on the roster, that's a LOT of guys who do the same thing. Unless you consider Johnson a 3B/OF.

Tito carried an 8-man pen most of the year. Hard to have 3 guys on the roster than can only DH/1B.

Bernie Pleskoff was just on Sirius radio and was talking highly of Clint, says he calls him Popeye due to his forearms and insane strength to go with bat speed, but the thing that stood out most to me was his prediction of him becoming a corner infielder. Says he's not a good OF, doesn't read the ball off the bat good enough for the Majors.

Also predicted him to average 30 homeruns when he gets settled in the league.

Would you guys do this?

Salazar for Puig?

No. And I wouldn't really have to think too hard about it.

Pretty much this.

Puig is more hype than substance, with a shitty attitude that pays off in the form of injury from not taking the best care of himself.

You don't think a good manager would turn Puig around (attitude wise)?

He had a pretty damn good manager, but I think a good manager and organization knows that this dude is potentially toxic.

People want to pretend he's Manny, but Manny worked so much harder and was truly a master of the craft at the plate.

Puig just wants to show up and play.

Guarantee if he was traded from L.A. to Cleveland he would throw a hissy fit...just screams that kind of player to me.

And why would a team with an open checkbook like LA even consider trading him if he were that good?

That team has no issue with egos and doesn't seem to value chemistry all THAT highly, yet Puig runs himself out?

Red flag.

I agree with this, however this team as is scares me ss there any more of a safe risk out there because the line up needs something to glue it together. Puig unless we get him for nothing yeah no way. What about Alexi Ramirez?
