2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From that draft (if it played out like that and the players were available at that slot)

1- Garrett
9- McKinley/Cook (sucks ADAMS/Fournette was not around)
33- I am fine with Jones there. May not be a popular pick here, but I wouldn't mind Watson. His potential with a year or 2 of developing could be nice. But I would not throw away this pick for Watson if something great was here. As I have said I am fine with running out RG3/Kessler for another year.
45- Elflein/Baker/Wormley.

The BEST part about this article:

—"You're going to draft a safety with a lucky interception in the top 10? We get fired for mistakes like that." That's what a director of college scouting texted me this week about Michigan's Jabrill Peppers. As much as the media likes Peppers, the sense I get from NFL folks is the Heisman candidate is more hype than substance.

Knocking Jabrill Peppers due to his lack of production while advocating for Myles Garrett at #1 seems a bit ironic to me.

Garett has been injured on an illegal play and still playing every game further he gets double teamed almost every play, while you woud expect a Safety to have more than 1 interception if he was going to be an early 1st round pick.

PS, Garrett still has 8.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovered and 15 tackles for a loss despite being played away from and has more than double the sacks of anyone else on the team.

Garrett has still been productive while peppers only has 1 career interception and the same number of pass defended as Garrett, 1.

Peppers production as a safety has been not just average but actually bad. He is a multi talented player playing some offense and returning kicks, but he is definitely over rated in my opinion.

Peppers will make a nice career out of being a returner, much like Desmond Howard.

I don't think Peppers is going to be a failure in the NFL, but no way he warrants our pick if our pick is anywhere in the 9-mid teens range.

This draft is just real nice with defensive players, hard to take a gamble on Peppers that high when you can actually get someone who has been producing. Maybe it will change in a couple months and lets see where our pick is, but as of right now, I would not take him. And I have been for him before.

Right. If Peppers were to be a guy playing offense, defense, and special teams in the NFL, then he'd have the value pundits are assigning him. If he's just a corner/safety/linebacker, he should slide a little.

I will say that if he could turn into a Deone Bucannon type in the NFL, he'd be a very nice piece. Peppers doesn't have Bucannon's productivity, though.

He is a gimmick. Lets call it what it is. He's a defensive version of a read option QB. Can do a bunch of cool stuff, but not elite at any one thing.

Myles Garrett will be double teamed the rest of his life, and it will open up opportunity for everyone around him. That is the guy I want. If Shelton, Nassib, Ogbah, or anyone else blitzing all have 1-on-1s then our defense is going to be rock solid.

I mainly agree, but Peppers I think will be a good pro in the right system, just seems more of a late 1st early 2nd talent, which is still very good. Myles on the other hand is an elite, elite talent, and if we get the number 1 overall pick, he is just too talented to pass up./

You realize he didn't play much safety in college, right? Thomas and Hill were Michigan's safeties. Peppers spent the vast majority of his snaps lined up at LB and around the line of scrimmage. He may be labeled as a safety for the purposes of the draft, but that's not where he played or how he was used. His 16 TFLs speak to his role more than his coverage stats.

As for where he should be drafted, I think mid 1st is appropriate. A good coordinator should be able to make use of his skillset in a hybrid role, and he should be a special teams stud at the minimum. He's also a smart, hardworking kid who loves football, which teams will love. Not saying the Browns should draft him, but god knows they could use players who give a fuck about the actual sport.

I know he is a tweener, but still dont see a ton of production for a early first round lb. later first to early 2nd for me.

If he could bulk up some to play full time OLB, then we are talking a very good pro prospect, but his like of ideal position is a bit of a concern for me.

Great image describing his versatility. It's his #1 asset and it's elite. As long as he goes somewhere with a D coordinator who knows how to use him, he can be a star.

If the Browns were to trade down, is there any team out there that has the proper assets to acquire the first pick?

Conditions:
1. A top ten pick.
2. A second 1st Round pick.
3. A 2nd Round pick.
4. A 2018 1st Round pick.
