2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And what happens if Jimmy becomes a franchise QB? You guys will be pissed you didn't trade #12 when you're loaded with picks

And what if Jimmy sucks, and the Patriots use that #12 pick to draft a QB that ends up becoming the face of New England's franchise?

... What if.

What if we trade them a 6th, Jimmy sucks and that 6th rounder turns into the greatest qb in the history of the NFL?

Not sure of your point on that one.

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I say - do not trade for Jimmy G and stay the course, building [primarily] through the draft.

I do not know - I just have this feeling, based on the Senior Bowl, Hue is high on Davis Webb. I am gonna throw out a premature predicition that Webb is his top QB prospect.

With that being said, Browns go BPA defense for #1 and #12 and look to grab Webb in the second?

I am also 4 cups of coffee deep right now - so, I could be completely out of my mind.

Davis Webb. That's your answer?

Trading a pick for a young guy like Jimmy is, to me, still building through the draft.

Not saying he is [my] answer. Actually, quite the contrary. It is just a prediction/early assessment. Im 'guessing' Hue is most impressed with Webb so far. Will that play out? I have no idea.

Take it with a grain of salt. Obviously, the combine, public/private workouts have not happened. In any event, the landscape will drastically change the next several months.

I think Jimmy G is the real deal. It's hard not to love the guy after watching his game tape. He gets rid of the ball quick, throws a tight, tight spiral. He is a natural leader and has learned from the two greatest minds in football. Long story short: he looks the part.

I would be absolutely thrilled coming away from this draft with Garrett and Garopollo. I definitely don't want to trade the 12th pick. But it's a possible franchise quarterback here, it's not absurd that that would be the asking price. I'm not entirely sold that the Patriots are even willing to trade him.

33 is basically a first. I'd be fine giving the Pats 33 and a 4th for Jimmy. Seems like a reasonable price.

Brady is 39. He looks to have at least 2-3 more seasons in him, which sounds crazy but appears to be true.

So unless they trade him...which is likely out of the question...they need to let Jimmy G move on. Sitting a rookie for 4-5 years would be unprecedented as far as I know.

Jimmy G has to be traded IMO.

It depends. He will be playing on the last year of his deal next year, and will be a unrestricted FA in 2018. If we trade for him, I would expect him asking for a contract in the 16-18M range per year. That's what is so hard about giving up so much in a trade. While we do have a ton of cap room, the name of the game is to have cheap good players on a rookie deals. I could see maybe using our second 2nd pick and maybe a 3rd next year. Just hard to give up 33 IMO.

Nobody knows whether you are serious or kidding anymore, after that Browns Draft Analyst snafu.

We just...can't bring ourselves to trust again so quickly.

Yes and No. The Patriots had for him the last few years on a rookie deal, we trade a 1 or 2nd for him, guess what next year he is going to be asking for a payday.

And if this team is below .500 (quite likely....), he may very well prefer to go play for a team that is closer to contending.

Entirely possible we trade for him, and he walks. That makes anything more than a second-rounder an overpay.
