2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Andrew is really on top of things.. we know for sure the Pats are hosting that Sunday night game.. and they have 8 home games.. so...
Of the 8 teams the Pats face at home, its probably down to Cleveland, Dallas & KC. No one else would make sense to open the season.

I know it’s the Patriots and they always find a way to win but without Gronk I really like our chances and that would be a great way to open the season if we get the win. Is it September yet?

KC makes the most sense. AFC title rematch. I’m sure we will get them at some point on National TV though.
Personally, I’d love to see us on Thanksgiving.

Defending Super Bowl Champs are 10-4 in week 1 since 2005. Give me the Broncos, Dolphins, Bills or Bengals at home with a 4:30 kick off in week 1.

The earlier we get them, the better.

It makes the most sense for sure. However, I could see a "passing of the torch" story being a huge headline. Especially with the moves we have made.

Ozzie was offered a job with people he had known and he took it and was promoted to the top over the years because he was good at it.

That doesn’t mean he ever stopped being a Brown.

Would be nice to see him at First Energy on the Browns side again - even as a fan.

Sort of does. As a player, he will always be a Brown, as an executive, he will always be a Raven. Funny thing is, he is HOF worthy at both jobs.

Personally I have no problem respecting coaches or executives of other teams, even rivals. They have a job to do, and the do it. I even respect some of the players, I just always make fun of Ben because beyond being a Steeler, he is an actual horrible human being. Being a Steeler might be only the 5th worst thing about him, lol.

Perhaps I find myself in the minority but if the return for Ogbah is a late 4th/early 5th I think I’d rather just keep hang onto him unless the organization feels his medical prognosis isn’t particularly promising.

Ogbah isn’t an above average starter — at least on a consistent basis but he’s serviceable depth which is still more than most middle-round/late selections become.

We wont keep him past this year as he is a free agent and he wont be a starter so we wont get a compensatory pick.

We need cheap rookie contract players going forward, if we can get a 4th for a non starter or even a 5th, you take it and move on. Last year Dorsey picked Calloway in the 4th, Avery in the 5th. Year before, 4th rounder was Jehu Chesson and 5th rounder Ukeme Eligwe. and year before, Parker Ehinger, Eric Murray, Demarcus Robinson, Kevin Hogan and Tyreek Hill.

You look what Dorsey does in those rounds and he hits about 50% of the time. Calloway, Avery, Murray, Hill, Robinson, Ehinger have all become useful players, with half of them starters. I mean I like Ogbah, but what do you think we will get for him since he is about to be a free agent?

Totally forgot he was a free agent; perhaps Dorsey can get a second rounder out of Gettleman.

Gettleman: it’s tough to find good defensive ends especially after you just traded your best one.

Or get the 3rd rounder back we just traded them for Odell, lol.

I like Ozzie, a great receiver for us, and he did a fine job for the Ravens, but HOF worthy at both......no way. There are only about 25 non player, non coaches in the Hall and they are almost all owners who have had an impact on the entire league. Ozzie just doesn't have the credentials. He worked for a good team and kept them good. He didn't transform anything or change the game, he just did a very good job. Not HOF calibre in my book.
Very deserving as a player enshrinee, Ozzie deserves no negativity for going to Baltimore.
