2019 Cleveland Indians Opening Day Roster

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, Dolan just needs to shut the fuck up at this point.
but the poor billionaire is losing money. wr should have sympathy for him.

I could possibly get behind this dumbass owner if he was fighting for a salary structure that didn't learn towards the big markets, but we beat none of that. plus the were right in the middle of payroll. reasonable fans understand we aren't having a $200 million payroll, but be competitive when you have the best shot.

If Colorado and San Diego can pay for stars then I don't want to hear about money issues.

Sad part is we are still a competitive team at the end of the day. None of us like the fact we are going with so many unproven guys this season, but we have the best rotation in baseball and could be the best in modern MLB history if everyone stays healthy. Also most owners aren’t willing to go into the red during a season in any sport, regardless of who it is. We got spoiled with the fact Gilbert is willing to do that to win, but that’s not most owners. The Cleveland organization for the most part has been one of the most well ran baseball organizations in baseball by a long shot. The FO trusts Francona to make the right decisions and seems like he is always in the loop for players coming in and out. Dolan in return trusts the FO to make the right decisions with the pocket book he has given them. People also forget it is the younger Dolan running the team and since he has taken over, the payroll has stayed high and so has the wins as well. We gotta trust the brains in place right now, since they have proven they can make the right moves.

One positive note is the fact we got a lot younger and we have a ton of young talent coming through the system now as well. This year and next year are the times to win with the current group, but sincerely I feel and so does anyone who understands our farm system, it will be a short rebuild if not even a retooling year to get back into the playoffs. BimboColesHair and AZ_ know minor leagues well and I think both can agree the talent we have is just insane at the lower levels. In projection our 2022/23 roster could easily be a team comprising almost entirely of our raised farm kids and young players acquired by dealing Kluber/Lindor etc. that’s really almost unheard of. We are going to stay contenders for a long time it feels like cause of how well the organization is ran right now

It was interesting getting a peak at Mercado and Johnson this spring and seeing the potential that they have. I also liked the Bauers move. He has more potential offensively and ability defensively that Yandy Diaz and Bauer is 4 year younger. Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline loves the youngsters in the Indians farm system. He commented on the MLB 30 for 30 on the Indians that he will likely project the Indians to have a top 10 farm system next year. I trust this front office.

That's kind of disingenuous as Machado's salary is $10 million this year but then jumps up to $30 million next year and stays there through 2028, and Will Myers jumps from $3 million to $20 million for the next 3 years.

They're also desperately trying to unload Myers.

They also have a TV deal thats like three times larger than Cleveland's. There are a number of reasons why playing this market comparison is not great.

Personally, I get why the Indians can't/won't keep Lindor.

Conversely, Dolan is not helping matters whatsoever with these interviews.

I think Dolan gets a bad shake at times for sure, but he's just making people's perception of him worse every time he talks.

To illustrate the different standard the Tribe is held to around here, I can't help but think of when Baker Mayfield called out the fans for the noticeable amount of empty seats during the Panthers game. He was widely praised for speaking out and rightly so. However, I could only imagine what the reaction would be if Lindor or Kluber criticized the fans for their underwhelming attendance. "Don't tell us how to spend our money!!" "Parking is too much!"

I don’t know where the standard started but this is 100% true. And IF! the day ever comes where the Indians move, the outrage will be ridiculous. Indians are the redheaded step child of Cleveland
