The Browns defense has actually been even better than the numbers would suggest. If this offense wasn't so turnover prone, they'd be averaging single digit PPG allowed through 5 games.

Let's take a look at some of the points the Browns have given up this year...

FG allowed to Bengals, drive started started at CIN 46 after a poor 30 yard-punt
TD to Steelers on Watson pick 6
FG to Steelers, drive started at CLE 39 after good punt return by PIT
TD to Steelers on Watson strip sack fumble return
FG to Titans, started on CLE 17 after Ford fumble
TD to Ravens, started on CLE 10 after DTR interception
TD to Ravens, started on CLE 38 after DTR interception
TD to 49ers, started on CLE 8 after Walker INT

So of the 77 points the Browns have surrendered this season, 14 were directly off defensive touchdowns handed over by the Browns offense and another 20 came where the opponent's offense moved the ball 10 yards or less on the ensuing possession.

The Browns have only given up 4 "true" touchdown drives this season - two to Baltimore, one to San Fran and one busted coverage long pass play to Pittsburgh.

So we might have one of the great defenses in NFL history but it’s totally wasted and for nothing because we don’t have a quarterback despite paying a quarter of a billion dollars and all our draft picks for one? NOT REASSURING

At this point, I'm operating under the assumption that Watson's season is effectively over and the Browns should do the same.

Maybe this comes across as extremely pessimistic, but absolutely nothing about this situation tells me that Watson will be playing at a high level anytime soon given the circumstances.

To me, the question should be: Do the Browns go with the band-aid option (Brissett) or go all-in with Captain Kirk? Or, do we just sit around and watch our season go down the drain with PJ Walker?
This opinion is really, really, really, really dumb.

Brad Stainbooty tweeted that there is an internal expectation inside Berea that Watson should return to practice at some point this week.

Media reporting is all over the place. Dudes are clueless. But I believe the Stain here. Sounds like we're giving NOTHING during press conferences but are thinking he could suit up this week.

At this point I don't really care - he'll come back when he does. If he's 90+% I hope it's this week. Guess I don't understand all the anxiety and misery right now. If he doesn't come back this week? Then we just gotta find some way to beat the Colts. Until we lose it's not an issue. 4-2 is 4-2 whether Watson plays or not.

The 4 to 6 week timeline sounds completely reasonable and there are plenty of case studies on rotator cuff micro-tears to back that up. This week would be the earliest recovery right at 4 weeks. By the Seattle game he'll be right in the middle of the window at 5 weeks. The AZ game would be the longest recovery at 6 weeks. It's bordering on ridiculous for people to assume it will be any longer and the way the franchise is taking the cautious approach with lots of rest and therapy, it should be 6 weeks max. They're not forcing the timeline, which is the thing that would cause the injury to regress.

My most optimistic take and biggest hope out of this is that it forces Watson to really focus on his footwork and mechanics. He needs to throw from his feet up, and not just with his arm. His accuracy has sucked all season when his footwork and mechanics get out of whack. If he drills this into his brain and his shoulder heals enough that he can be confident in his velocity, distance and accuracy, he could be a better passer going forward than what we've seen so far in Cleveland.

What about the report inside the locker room of teammates being annoyed Deshaun didn't play vs Baltimore? When they assumed and were told he was most likely going to give it a go?

Are we going down the same path this week, 3 weeks later?

If that is the case, I wonder why Deshaun is being so non committal about everything? It just seems like a very odd situation all around here.

Regardless of whether he thinks or knows if he'll play, he's probably going to keep it close to the vest.

Can't Deshaun just listen to dolphins fucking or whatever it is Aaron Rodgers is doing to speed up his recovery time?

Would be a great pickup but the cost would be too high.

I tend to agree, but the market for him is going to be extremely small unless the Titans restructure his deal to reduce the cap number. There are very few teams that have the cap space and the need to trade for Henry.

Cinci and Dallas are the only teams with the space to take him on that would potentially make any sense. Anyone else would have to send back a player and potentially draft compensation. Maybe the Rams and Ravens make a play, but they’d each have to send back around $4M just to make it work without a restructure.

Again, not saying Henry is the best idea, but he might not cost as much as people think due to his salary, age, a limited market, and only having one year left on his deal.
