A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What will be interesting is if Robinson goes #2, MKG #3, with Beal and Barnes on the board for the Cavaliers. I prefer Beal, but it seems like the Cavs are high on Barnes.
The Cavs would be foolish to pass on Beal for Barnes.

I'm going to laugh so fucking hard in three years if everyone is dead wrong about this draft.

Why?

They seemingly both struggle with the same things. Mediocre handle, inability to create off the dribble.

Between the two, I like Barnes because of his ability to be a top defender at the 3 and his makeup.

Chances are outside of Davis and maybe Robinson, we probably are going to be wrong

Which is why it blows my mind how everyone can have such adamant opinions.

Go ahead and speculate all you want, but I don't think many people here are qualified to say that someone will 100% boom/bust.

dude thats weird

Why ya hating on barnes makeup.

If the Cavs FO doesn't want anymore players with big egos...

I'd stay far far away from Harrison The Black Falcon Barnes....

no... im sure the majority of us are. The draft it seems is just choices based on educated guesses. Neither kobe nor MJ were drafted first overall. Draft is a crapshoot. Do your homework, show some faith and you just might get lucky. I'll support whoever we draft...we'll probably take barnes or beal but im secretly hoping we take perry jones, he plays with a chip on his shoulder and he becomes a beast...won't happen but would be an awesome story.

A tweet from Bill Ingram, one of the writers at Hoopsworld, posted 13 minutes ago:

<b>Sounding more and more like Barnes is a lock at 4...Kyrie Irving's good friend...great fit in Cleveland...

i am waiting for the rebel who says "[player that isn't barnes] is a lock for #4"

too much monotony thus far

Well it's been really fun talking to you guy for almost 4 years, but I don't think I can take the Barnes selection. My hearts been broken every year since 2004 as a Cavs fan and I honestly don't think I can take it anymore. Please just let this be a smoke screen. We can do better!

Definitely time to give up after selecting him in the draft, make sure you don't wait until you actually see what happens.

It's all about perception, MKG gets to play the roll of King Golden Dick because his team mashed on people. In reality he's just as much a role player as Barnes projects to be (albeit in a different capacity - slasher/getting to the rim)

Barnes projects to be a role player who can give you 17-21 with a quick release and solid defense but he sucks because he didn't dominate all the time surrounded by 5 other first rounders at UNC (much like MKG).

It's amazing how differently these guys are looked upon when they both project to be pretty similar at the next level (secondary options, glue guys).

Player A: SF - 6'7", 232 lbs; 12 PPG, 8 RPG, 2 APG, .491 FG%, .255 3PT%, 75 FT%
Player B: SF - 6'8", 215 lbs; 17 PPG, 5 RPG, 1 APG, .440 FG%, .358 3PT%, 72 FT%
Player C: SG - 6'3", 207 lbs; 15 PPG, 7 RPG, 2 APG, .445 FG%, .339 3PT%, 77 FT%

Obviously that's MKG, Barnes, and Beal, respectively. They all have the upside to be "Robin" to Kyrie's "Batman," as all three would play well alongside Irving. One of them will be a Cleveland Cavalier next season. We can argue until we're blue in the face about which one is the best pick (I like Beal, then MKG, then Barnes), but any of the three have a really good shot at becoming our #2, and I don't see any of the three setting the franchise back. I'll be thrilled to get any one of them in Wine and Gold next season.

I have just never seen it with Barnes. I just really find it hard to believe he will be anything more than a spot up/1-dribble pull up jump shooter if he doesn't improve his handle. It's just terrible. That isn't an exaggeration either. It is absolutely terrible.

At least he supposedly works hard and is friends with Kyrie. Two pluses.

Also.... I have always had such a hard time believing MKG is 230+ lbs. He looks so skinny. Barnes on other hand looks ripped and he's only 210. Doesn't seem right to me.
