A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
But what about the situation with you-know-who. He didn't get anyone he thought had potential. Kyrie is smart enough to pick player over buddy.

It's already been stated that the Cavs aren't building around Kyrie, they're building with him. They're not going to consult him on draft picks, or should they.

If we get Barnes and Rivers then we have 3 FOKs and have eliminated a reason for this dude to take his talent elsewhere.
Maybe, but not winning a title (or even contending) will add a reason for him to take his talents elsewhere. And that reason is probably more important.

The Cavs essentially have Kyrie locked up for ~6? more years. Concerning themselves with this "friend" aspect of players is bullshit and accomplishes nothing. They need the best talent, not someone who can join in on a circle jerk.

I actually think that irving rivers barnes thompson varejo with the turkish guy from chicago is a pretty good lineup going towards the future.

the best three bigs on the roster not being able to shoot outside of 3ft isn't good going towards the future (not to mention the significant lack of elite talent on the roster).

Barnes is so soft he makes Charmin feel like sandpaper.

Oh no he didn't y'all!

Ask yourself this. If not for still living off his "next kobe" high school hype, would we seriously be looking at this kid as a #4 pick given his glaring weaknesses?

After watching him just get destroyed repeatedly trying to take the mighty OhioU players off the dribble, I shudder to think of him even dribbling once against professionals.

0.5 assist to turnover ratio.

He'd leave us faster than LeTraitor in a second if he thought it would help his "brand", which is very concerning.

Loyalty is becoming non existent, you are telling me if a job that paid better, had better benefits etc came along you wouldnt jump ship? Look we all do this and this branding issue needs to die.

I guess if that was the only game of his you've seen, that opinion would be somewhat justified.

But pretending you know he'd leave to help his brand just shows the blind hatred coming through.

If Drummond wasn't living off of his 'next dwight' hype coming out of HS, I wonder if he would be viewed in the same light.

What did we see from drummond in his last game? 1-4, 2 points, 3 rebounds, 5 fouls, in 26 minutes as his team lost to iowa state.

Hey now. Walter Offutt and Nick Kellogg were two of the best perimeter defenders in the MAC this season. They are very quick and deceptively strong.

Yes, Barnes should have played better, but give Ohio some credit.

(Sorry, had to stick up for my Bobcats.)

How can this guy get the 4th best ever standing vertical by DX (38"), then turn around and only get a 39.5 max vertical? Shouldn't
your max vert be 4-5 inches more than your standing vert?

One would suspect an error in reporting to be the first possibility
If it's real, it would be unusual but looks like some other players also did not improve on the max vert much (nick young for example). Maybe he's not that coordinated?

That's your bias leaking through. Perhaps he's so coordinated that he's nearly gotten rid of the gap between his no step vertical and max vertical. But all bodies are built differently. I have a 700 lb deadlift, yet I can only bench 315. Most guys who can bench 315 max out in the 400s or 500s in deadlift, and guys who have a 700 lb deadlift typically have a 500 lb bench or so. Do I suck at bench, or am I just gifted in deadlift? Biases would make one person answer one way or another.

Why are you assuming that I'm trying to hide my bias and as noted I stated it as a question mark, not a definitive statement.

In any case, the lack of differential while not unheard of is odd. My explanation is as good as any considering you can't change physics. In your example, you are using different groups of muscles entirely while in the case of a vert you're using essentially the same muscles in a way that should lead to a better performance. Going back to Newton's laws, starting from a standstill requires more force. While he shoots well, he's a bad ballhandler with limited passing ability. Agility/Coordination/Balance is hard to measure and a certain lack of it could with why, if true, his jumping numbers don't increase.
