A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Barnes need to play like the Boston Celtic Ray Allen, primarily coming off screens and knocking it down in order for him to be successful.

Barnes will not be the best player/guy the Cavs build around, Irving is. What one hopes Barnes can turn into is a solid go-to second scoring threat. If he turns into that, we make a great draft pick. I honestly want him more than MKG, but not Beal. I want another scoring threat at #4 and an "all-around" player at #24.

Also, if we draft Barnes, do we start him at the 3 and can we play Gee at the 2?

Not even accounting for #24, #33, #34:

PG: Irving
SG: Gee
SF: Barnes
PF: Thompson
C: Varejao
-----------------
PG2: Sloan
PG3: Gibson
SG2: Parker
SG3: Gibson
SF2: Gee
SF3: Walton
PF2: Varejao
PF3: Samuels
C2: Erden
C3: Samuels

Bring Gee off the bench. Use one of the later picks to either draft or trade for another wing and a backup big.

I wouldn't be too upset with that line-up

It would start off exactly opposite, but you may be right in the long run..

I apologize in advance for not sifting through the 43 pages of this thread before commenting, but I don't see a whole lot of terrible in Barnes. He has a great rapport with Kyrie, thus making him a top option on the team. My only problem with a guy like Barnes is that while he will light it up at times, he also has the ability to go completely cold during a game. I don't want to deal with that aspect of his game much, even though that is the life of having a shooter.

I'm really starting to warm up to the possibility of the Cavs taking Barnes with the 4th pick. He has great relationship with Kyrie, which means they would be a fantastic duo together. People say they don't want Barnes because he can't create on his own. Well 1) he can develop that and 2) he doesn't need to create all that much when he has Kyrie creating for him. If we drafted Barnes, I would hope we could trade back into the lottery and take either Lamb or Ross to get that prized starting SG, move Gee to the bench, and start winning some games. I really don't care for tanking again this season to get another lottery pick next year. If Grant wants one badly enough, he can get one.

Im enjoying the hypocrisy that is flowing out here with the POTENTIAL of who we might draft with this 4th pick.

If the decision comes down to Barnes and Gilchrist, I would take Barnes 8/10 times, and I can only hope we have the chance to make that decision on Thursday.

I'll be sitting here sipping the fruitiest margarita, and enjoying the RCF reaction.

I'm excited. Whether we draft Barnes and you get to go into I-told-you-so mode, or we get MKG and you get to bitch about the pick, you'll be too preoccupied to talk about Jonas V's soft white ass. :chuckles:

Im that voice inside you Chris, that knows we took the safe pick instead of swinging for the fences with last years 4th.

Even if Im too preoccupied to type about it, you are traveling on vacations and going to classes down at Miami, and you sit back for a second and you think of the state of your favorite basketball team... and you see me shaking my head at Tristan Thompson.

That vision wont go away. I really am still shaking my head.

But on to the draft :)

Harrison Barnes is Wizards Plan B?
June 26, 2012
The Wizards made the first big trade of the offseason, sending Rashard Lewis and the 46th pick to New Orleans for Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza. With the deal, the Wizards essentially upgraded their front court — Okafor likely will be their starting 5, Nene their starting 4 and Ariza their starting 3.

With John Wall running the point, that leaves them with one big hole: at the 2. I think this makes (Bradley) Beal a no-brainer for the Wizards, who are lacking a lights-out perimeter shooter. He’s a perfect fit for this new roster. And if the Wizards believe they are in danger of losing Beal, don’t be surprised if they offer the Bobcats the No. 32 pick to move up one spot. If Beal is off the board, it looks as if Harrison Barnes is Plan B.

I think Cavs will regret taking Barnes at Number 4. Very overrated imo

I would do Beal or MKG if they are available.

It is slightly ironic that you blasted the Cavs for making a safe pick last year, and you essentially want them to do the same thing this year between Barnes and MKG.

Barnes just screams a better shooting Marvin Williams to me. Yeah they are athletic but only when they have space. They're not quick enough or explosive enough to use their athleticism as often as they would like. He will be good, but no where near an all star. I really hope the Cavs realize and take MKG, who has every advantage over Barnes other than shooting. Shooters are much easier to find than a guy with MKG's qualities.
