Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd be fine with taking a flier on Okafor if he would sign for the minimum or not much more. If he comes back healthy it's a great signing for us. If not, well, we're not out anything, and unlike Bynum he won't be a locker room problem.

Oak will get a bigger offer from the Lakers.

We'd have to sell him on being on a contender.

I'm sure that will be the main selling point we use on all free agents we try to sign here. I'd also try to sell him on the fact that LeBron tends to make his teammates better, which may lead to a bigger payday for Okafor in a year or two after he proves himself to be healthy again.

Seraphin is a definite possibility and he's an LRMR client. On the downside, he's a RFA and I imagine the Wizards will match any reasonable offer.

Other than Seraphin, Oden & Okafor hold some appeal.

I wouldn't mind the Cavaliers trading Thompson or Bennett for a young center and then signing Ed Davis. The loss of Hawes was manageable, but losing Zeller, on top of that and for nothing in return, really hurts.

Didn't see that. Wiz gave Q-offer of just above 3.9mil but he has not signed as far as I could tell. NBA.com still had him as a UFA and they were pretty up-to-date with most players. Finding a center is going to be tough unless Griff has something in the background.

I'd like to see Donatas, but I think he's shaping up for an even bigger role after their free agency blunder.

EDIT: I'd wonder if Joakim would re-consider playing in Cleveland in the event that Rose goes down yet again and the Bulls look to shed some salary.

Okafor would be a great pickup if we can get him. I have some unreasonable fandom for Hasheem Thabeet.... yes I know he's trash, but I am always able to watch him play and convince myself that the light is just about to come on. Obviously he'd be no more than a 4th big at the veterans minimum. Jermaine O'Neal is still very playable, though injuries are a big concern.

Trade target wise, I'd be interested in guys like Hibbert, or maybe even Bogut or Robin Lopez could be had at the right price. The problem for those players would be getting the trade to work right money wise.

I would go after Emeka Okafor at this point. Walter Tavares played very well last night, looks like a steal. He's exactly what we needed from our big but instead, we opted for Harris who looks pretty awful. The Hawks also traded Nogueira for peanuts. We had many opportunities to cash in and have some decent big men on this roster. Last year, we passed on Gorgui Dieng with the #19 overall pick and he made the All-Rookie team. It seems like we pass on a big man with every pick in every single draft.

Seraphin was super productive after McGee was traded. He put up starter numbers. He's got a very good hook shot which has always appealed to me and he has potential to be an elite post defender. Undersized height wise but an enormous wing span and he's hard to move in the post. Point is that he still has a lot of potential and could be developed as he's still a young player and he was overshadowed last season. He's a guy that I think could pan out for us and solve some problems.

Hey, it works in the trade checker...

No. No, no, no, no, no. Get that s*** outta here

A more realistic option is Carlos Boozer. If he gets amnestied we should go after him ASAP. Provides good depth and can shoot and rebound. Not a liability on defense and brings good experience. Another homecoming and we can convince that well give him the best chance to beat his old team... Chicago :)

1. Carlos Boozer is not even close to being a center

2. Not a defensive liability? What Carlos Boozer have you been watching?

3. He lied to a blind man's face. He can burn in hell.

4. someone will make a higher bid than us

I'm surprised we haven't heard any rumblings about Okafur and guys like him.

I assume either the Love talks are strong or Miller is the priority which seems kinda odd to me.

Some terrible ideas being thrown around here. I'd take Okafor on the vet min just to see what he could do. But only player that really intrigues me is Jason Smith. He always stood out to me when I saw the Pelicans play due to his energy and toughness. We need a big guy that's not going to back down, especially since LeBron is going to be taking some hard fouls. Not sure if the Cavs could afford him though. Seraphin could also be another decent option, but he seems like another Tristan-esque player to me - not big enough to play C and doesn't have a PF's game.
