Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd like to see Donatas, but I think he's shaping up for an even bigger role after their free agency blunder.

EDIT: I'd wonder if Joakim would re-consider playing in Cleveland in the event that Rose goes down yet again and the Bulls look to shed some salary.

Maybe, but word is the Rockets are trying to sign Kostas Papanikolaou and I expect they'll make other moves. Donatas may be available at some point, depending on what other moves the Rockets make.

It'd be worth pursuing Donatas. I'd even be willing to give up a future first for the guy. Love to get him and sign Jason Smith. Could flip Haywood and his contract plus a future first for Donatas.

Oden actually might be perfect for a back up. He was brought along slow in Miami, didn't get to play much. At least he is healthy and got stronger. Well worth the risk for a back up imo, because if he can do half of what he is capable of, that would be HUGE for us. Rim protects, rebounds, and finishes. From Ohio State. Lets get him.

Didn't play many minutes, but he showed flashes. Great nose for the ball. Great hands. Maybe some impressive blocks on dunk attempts.

Oden has the potential to be a steal - and to also let the Cavs start five #1 picks on occasion.

I think Oden would be willing to play for the Cavs at the minimum. I think he's worth the risk as long as we have a back up plan. I'd be fine with signing Smith and Oden.

Oden would love to travel two hours north on I-71 from training at Ohio State this summer to suit up and play for the Cavs.
He is certainly worth the look.

I'm not saying I know, but I know.

On another front (maybe even coupled with signing Oden) I would propose this trade.

Cavs Send:
2015 First Round Pick (Cleveland)
2016 Second Round Pick
Dwight Powell or 2015 Second Round Pick (Cleveland)

Timberwolves Send:
Gorgui Dieng

Doesn't work even if Powell was signed. The salaries wouldn't work. It could only work if they did find a way to keep the TPE from the Gee trade or if they sent Haywood's contract. They could do that immediately for a one-to-one.

I'd prefer to send a first to Houston for Donatas.

But I figured Oden would love to follow LeBron and play for the Cavs, especially since I think he does still live in Ohio.

I know the last time one team had four #1 picks on their roster was the 86-88 Lakers. That team went to three straight NBA Finals and won two of them.

I'm not sure if any team has ever fielded five #1 overall picks at one time. The Lakers were the last to do four: Kareem, Worthy, Magic, and Mychal Thompson. Worthy was picked by the Lakers with the Cavs' pick thanks to Stepien.

My dream is for dion to gain a ton of trade value, and use him to move up in the draft to take a center

If Oden had truly been healthy, he'd have played a lot more minutes than he did. Perfectly fair to assume he played all the minutes he was capable of playing, which were negligible.

Complete waste of salary.

Eh, it's Dan Gilbert's money, not mine, and it would be a veteran minimum, which means it wouldn't really matter anyway.

Oden is so bad it is a waste of a slot, not money

Blatche is a poor defender and a headcase (although I think he has behaved as of late) and I would easily take him before Oden.
