Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't fucking wanna give up the memphis pick :/
Wright Per 25 just saying
You need to get out of the asset mindset. We spent the last few years collecting all of these picks to spend them exactly in this fashion. We don't win championships with rookies, we win them with established players. If that Memphis pick gives us a center sign me up.

Without the Memphis pick we have virtually nothing pick wise to include with any potential Haywood trade next year. So that will kind of suck.

We have Dion to add to Haywood. It could net us a max player.

Griffin has to be careful. Teams know he's more desperate for a big than two nights ago. As such the asking price is going up.

It may be best to sit on Haywood and Kirk and wait until February, or the offseason.

Any trade, IMO, will require the Memphis first as well as Dion. It got steep.

We don't need a max player, we need good role players.
In my opinion, I think the CAVS should just bit the bullet and go after Roy Hibbert very hard. Hibbert would be the long term fix and provide stability to the position and rotation. If you are going to fix it now, do it the right way and get someone who has been reliable and has playoff experience. He plays defense, rebounds, and can finish.

TPE + pick

I think it is clear that the Memphis pick is off the table until the summer unless it is for Mozgov. I wouldn't be worried about that.

TPE and seconds should be able to net us a stop-gap big and I would guess that is the plan. Maybe Andy can be back by the playoffs too, who knows.

This next offseason is when we fill all the holes. Add some young athleticism on the wing in the draft, add a big with Haywood and the Memphis pick, use the MLE/BAE as well. This year is all about getting our core to play together. I think we can win the title with some luck, but 2016-2020 is probably our peak window.

No way you can include Dion to land a big. That will be just plugging up one hole and creating another. Find one FA, and let it roll if you cant find a big that can be acquired with just the pick.

Good post, my thoughts exactly

Get Mozgov, forget about Kosta the scrub or undersized Brendan Wright, this team already has Tristan. Mozgov is legit 7 footer who is averaging above 1bpg the last few years. He's also under contract for next season so no risk in losing him.

The Mozgov to CLE / Wright to DEN / TPE to BOS idea is not bad, although I'd honestly rather have Brandan Wright if he's gettable.

Here's an interesting wrinkle though:

Report: Rockets assuring Smith he'll start if he signs with Houston

Apparently the Rockets are going so hard after Josh Smith that they are promising him a starting spot. That means one of four players suddenly lost a TON of playing time, depending on what position they play Smith at:

Donatas Montejunas
Terrence Jones
Trevor Ariza
Corey Brewer

I just don't see them letting Jones go as he's got the highest ceiliing.

What does anyone think about DMo's ability to play center? He's 7'0", 255 lbs, and currently has the 4th best Opponent's FG% at the rim for bigs behind Dwight Howard, Andrew Bogut and Roy Hibbert.

He was never much talked about before because before the Josh Smith event, he wasn't available. Suddenly Houston looks to have a logjam of bigs.

I haven't seen him play much at center, but that's mostly because he's always been behind Dwight and Asik and hasn't been asked to play there that much.

I would have no problem using the TPE and attaching our Memphis pick for DMo, especially considering that if a better center prospect popped up, DMo's value is just about equal to that pick anyway.

Or better yet, would you include Dion in that package as well and try and get back Ariza too? You could solve your 3&D wing and center problem in one swoop.

Josh Smith, Dion Waiters and a possible lottery pick is not a bad haul for DMo and Ariza.

Dmo has almost Been better than Dwight. They barely missed a beat with Dwight out. He does play center and that is the problem. He is looking like the most offensively gifted backup center in the league. I don't see anyone getting him until unrestricted free agency and that's if he wants to be a starter somewhere else.
I don't agree that Terrence Jones had more upside. Dmo is looking tough this year instead of soft, and his offense is full of post ups and a nice mid range. He is great finishing around the basket.

Man, I just... I'd give pretty much whatever to get him here.

That's not true, but I would happily pay a handsome price.

Last week I would've said don't even bother. This week, it's worth a phone call to Morey.

i really hope we get an injury exception from the league if Andy is done for the year. this would give us a real advantage over other contenders when it comes to the Emeka Okafors and Jermaine O'Neals of the world.
