Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Perhaps Keys is saying that to bring in another player who can' t do or lacks the ability to do whats needed would be a laterial move.
Now for me at this point, and I'm usually the one who wants a center who can score, they need a player in the middle to take attention away from the others but on defense , he closes that lane down .

A top flight backup who could play more minutes elsewhere is the perfect target, like when Asik backed up Noah in Chicago.

Wright and Mozgov have spent the past few seasons on teams extremely deep at center.

Brandon Wright is intriguing. Better than Dalembert, Sacre, Koufus, etc.

We also need a 3 and D guy at the 2 guard. We have no 3 and D guys which is amazing. Those type of players can benefit so much playing with our core.

Maybe it's because he plays like he's got cinder blocks stuffed in his Nikes? Or maybe it's just because he was a bad match up against Miami (because his shoes are full of concrete) ?

Nailed it.

In all honesty, i am a bit annoyed we havent tried to even use Alex Kirk or Brendon Haywood. I know neither seem like world beaters, but both are big bodies that could body up bigger centers. We dont need offense from the center position, so i dont see why we dont start one for 20 mins a game and keep TT on the bench and 35 mins a game.

tarik black isn't any kind of "solution." he isn't the rim-protecting big the cavs desperately need, he doesn't address the woefully-limited lack of playoff experience up front, and the cavs are unlikely to get him anyways because teams worse than them will claim him too.

it's almost january; the trade deadline really is not that far away. the cavs need more than a solution "for right now." they need a guy that can actually fill needs going forward.

Such a long winded post with no solution. What do you suggestion, oh great one?

I think the Cavs will give him some burn in the next couple weeks to see if a little more playing time is all he needs to get those stone feet to tap dance.

The Cavs aren't inclined to make an immediate move to shore up their front court, however, according to a league source. There's a variety of reasons behind the thinking. For starters, the Cavs do not have much interest in the veteran big men that are currently free agents in Jermaine O'Neal, Kenyon Martin and Emeka Okafor. Beyond that, the team believes that in the short term, it can give more minutes to Thompson and get a real look at Brendan Haywood, the veteran center that's spent much of the season collecting DNPs on the bench.

Also, Cleveland could try to play small in the interim. Cavs general manager David Griffin's background is with the "seven seconds or less" Phoenix Suns, a team that played the likes ofBoris Diaw and Tim Thomas in the front court to try to spread the floor.

"We will approach it initially on a game-to-game basis, maybe more matchup-oriented," Blatt said. "We'll look down the line to see what we can do on a more permanent basis and guys will step up."

Behind Love, the Cavs started Shawn Marion in the front court to match up with Miami, who start with a stretch 4 in Shawne Williams.

Maybe those cinder blocks would protect the paint better than the midgets they have trying to without him?

Never know how those cement feet will work out until they actually see the court.

But hell, you must be happy with K Love starting at the five and guarding the five.

According to Douglar trying them is an abomination.

Because the options they have are so good :conf (11):

Asik is probably available. But since he's stopped blocking shots, I don't see how helps at all.

I don't think omer has ever blocked a lot of shots. Teams have shot a low percentage at the rim against him which is more valuable than blocked shots.

Memory tells me he was a solid shotblocker. Stats tell me differently. So I'm willing to concede this point. That said, still thinking he's available. Pelicans are a way better team with Anderson/Davis than with Davis/Asik. But we're not matching that salary, so it's a moot point.

I am partial to the underutilized Jeff Withey on that Pelicans roster, but if the Cavaliers want to contend this year, I think they need a more finished product. There are plenty of teams making the decision to "accumulate future assets" right now and move veterans. Trade with one of those teams for a guy who knows how to play right now.

It has to be Mozgov. Has to. Griffin needs to get it done. Haywood can't even drag his legs into position let alone get up and down the court.
