Why would Portland give him up though? There 15 and 4 and look good.
It would seem more likely a team that is struggling would be willing to shed salary ala Charlotte
I think we should go for Dalembert. His advanced stats for rim protecting are amazing, all of this while playing with a shit defense in NYC.
Also, one year contract which doesn't arm us long term and very cheap player.
Considering the state of NYC assets, we should be able to get him for not much. Maybe 2nd round pick + expiring? TPE ?
He is a really nice filler until next summer when we have a better idea of who we are and what we need.
Come on Griff, go get him
Any word on Koufos? I know he is the mold of Kaman-Esque bigs and is on a one year cheap contract. He went to OSU so he has a Ohio background and would be a perfect backup/fill in starter. I know Memphis is killing it so anything is unlikely but I could see him being that type of guy for the right price. They could definitely use someone like waiters. Maybe a waiters, Amundsen for pondexter and TPE for Koufos?
Edit--> Memphis has a knack for making our crappy bigs into the rotation I.E. Jon Leur
how about Vitor Faverani? he's having knee surgery right now and will be out 6-8 weeks. reportedly the Celtics are thinking about waiving him (apparently they would like to keep Powell and that makes it tough to keep Faverani). he didn't play a ton last year but put up solid numbers in limited time (his 45.3% Opp FG% at the Rim is also very good). i wouldn't mind giving him a non-guaranteed contract and see if he recovers
