Re: Heat Discussion

The Heat looked better with Wade off the floor. If only LeBron and Bosh could have played somewhere together without Wade.

Re: Heat Discussion

They looked very good in their first game. Bosh was the real surprise. That jumper was nice and if they can get a double-double from Haslem, they'll be very tough to beat.

Re: Heat Discussion

If healthy come May and June, nobody is stopping the Heaters...

The perimeter defense is just going to be ridiculous, it was as if they were getting deflections every other play...

True, although at the same time the Pistons looked REALLY sloppy. I'd like to see what they look like against some stronger talent.

Friday's game against the Thunder should be much more interesting.

Re: Heat Discussion

The latest quote from LeBron "I can't defer," James said. "I'm never in defer mentality."

Yet Wade is announced last, gets the biggest cheers, and is in the center of photos, could trouble be brewing
Ego issues are really the only possible downfall with this team. If the big 3 (especially Wade, IMO) can keep everything in check, they are going to roll to many titles.

If not, then it could get interesting.

The Pistons are pretty bad, but it's still only pre-season so Miami's chemistry isn't exactly that great either.

Re: Heat Discussion

And so it begins......... I expected this but not this early.

These guys don't want players who defer, they want guys who will step-up and get it done.

The trouble will start brewing when/if one of them decides he needs to go in to take over mode, and doesn't actually get the job done. The thing is neither James or Wade are pure scorers, both of them have terrific court vision, and will see other guys get open. Even if one of them (or both of them) constantly breaks off the offense, they're talented enough to make it work. It's not like pairing Durant and Anthony.

Doc Rivers had to constantly fight back "hero ball" as he called it, but even KG/Allen/Pierce in their prime were nowhere close to the level of Wade/James when it comes to running an offense 1v5.

Well I don't think anyone grows up wanting to be Pippen. Everyone dreams of being Jordan so we will have to see how this plays out. I think it may be ok for now because I think Wade is humble enough to be Robin and let LBJ be Batman. That being said, it may be hard for Wade to give up HIS team to the new guy no matter how humble he is.

Re: Heat Discussion

Wade has no problem sliding into the background. He did it with Shaq. But he'll always be there to step up in the big moments when Lebron chokes. I think their personalities actually work well with each other. Don't know that Lebron would work with a lot of other personalities in the league. Lebron-Kobe would be a disaster.

He actually didn't do it with Shaq. As soon as Shaq got there he said it was Wade's team. Shaq said he just wanted to be the big brother and help him take the team to a championship, which he did. But he always said it was Wade's team.

I just don't think it's so hard to figure out. In any given game, one of the two will be having more success breaking down the D, and that's the guy you run the last play through. If the D sees it coming and adapts, then they'll just pass it to the other guy.

Having two alpha wolves is supposed to cause problems ... but who exactly has enjoyed anything like this? Pippen & Jordan is similiar, but Pippen wasn't the #1 player on his own team before joining the Bulls. Melo and Iverson couldn't be more different. McGrady and Hill never got a shot. I suppose McGrady and Wince had their issues sharing the spotlight in Toronto, but we're talking about two of the most talented losers of all time.

Having the best two all-around players in the league seems like the sort of problem you'd want to have.

Any GM in the league would have done the same thing if they had the chance. That doesn't mean it will work. I believe Bosh will end up being the odd man out and end up with Haslem type numbers. As for Wade and James, I doubt they both score 30 points a game. One will have to be the go to guy and they other will have to be the facsilitator and second option. That could change from night to night. Nobody is going to shut them down but if you shut down the other guys you have a chance. Everyone is looking at the three of them as the players they were when they were alone. But their individual PPG has to come down because now they are sharing the scoring load. Where they do have an advantage is in the closing seconds of a tight game. The other team can't focus on one guy, Miami has the luxury of having 3 guys capable of hitting the game winner.

Re: Heat Discussion

Everyone on that team should be required to read this book:

Mister Eisner would probably suggest that one of the egos must drop back in order for the team to be successful. Bosh did it and I think as Wade ages he will too. Or, they will fall apart.
