Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Considering that we're under .500, being 3-3 without him would actually prove we're better without him :chuckles:

I obviously don't feel that way though. Andy is a boss.

Was just saying that to disprove his statement that we're on a 5-game win streak since losing Andy. Our last 3 games are our only wins this season without Andy, and all of them were very easy games to begin with.

And yeah, Andy is a boss.

It could also have been to see if we needed a trade to fortify the frontcourt. I mean if Bennett and Henry Sims along w/Zeller were sucking it up I could see us bringing in a guy like Hill. Now, I think we stand pat there.

Andy is the real guts of the Cavs.

Name the last Cavalier who hustled and played hard every game.

Cue the crickets(not the Buddy Holly ones).

From Finnan at practice:

Andy Varejao on court shooting, wearing an elastic wrap on left knee.

Knee? I thought he just was "sore" and had a "sore back"...

From Finnan:

None of #Cavs' injured players - C Anderson Varejao (back), SG Dion Waiters (knee) or G/F CJ Miles (ankle) - practiced Sat, won't play Sun

Awesome.

Don't worry, just a minor injury for Varejao.....

I have a feeling that whatever treatment is being used on Varejao's back, he isn't responding to it.

If it was a minor injury Varejao would be playing. It's bad enough to stop varejao from playing. I'm still in panic mode. You can see it in the front court the cavs have been missing his wrinkle of defense. I think if he's out the second half of the season the cavs miss the play offs. The defense hasn't been good enough to make up 3 or 4 games with 20 some games to go. Unless we become a top 10 offense with the addition of hawes and irving remains healthy I don't see this team making the push with out varejao.

I think Varejao is going to end up retiring in another year or two due to injury.

I really wonder what/who we could have gotten in a trade for Varejao over the past few years. It seems like we most likely missed out on some pretty damn good opportunites.

This quote is from Lloyd:

I didn’t see Varejao tonight, and there hasn’t been much information available on his back or injury status.

Why are the Cavs always so secretive with Andy? If he is out for the year or has a serious issue, just release the info. It isn't anything we haven't heard before. I mean, he almost died last year with a blood clot. I don't see how it could get more serious than that.

Especially considering that at this point we're past the trade deadline. No reason to hide information about Andy's injury anymore.

The Cavaliers beat four bad teams without Varejao: Sacramento, Detroit, Philly, and Orlando. Last season, even tanking teams were hard for this franchise to beat without Andy. Then they dropped two games to playoff teams, Washington and Toronto. I thought they had a good shot to win against the Raps, not so much against the Wiz.

Hawes has shown that he will at least keep the offense flowing without Andy, which discourages the Hero ball trappings. I still feel like the team looks decent considering how important Andy, and to a lesser extent Dion, is to this team.
