Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I suspect the Cavs took the guy Minnesota told them to. I think this trade was essentially agreed to before the draft. And if the Wiggins pick wasn't told to them, then I think it's the guy the Cavs suspected Minnesota wanted.

Saunders said, during his 25-minute press conference yesterday, that Wiggins was #1 on the Minnesota board because of his 2-way ability. I guess he wouldn't say "we had Parker first", but it seemed like fairly genuine as a response.

Did it change for the better or for the worse? I didnt watch any college basketball last season because I was sure we were not getting any of the top guys. I therefore had no preconcieved notions. What I saw was was an extremely athletic player who was a master at getting fouled and who had an exellent step back mid range jumper. His three point shooting left a lot to be desired and his handle was as bad as the critics claimed. Over the ensuing weeks I slowly changed my opinion as to whether he was untouchable in a Love deal and I recognized that Waiters actually possessed some skills that I dont think this guy will ever have. There are also times in the games where he seems to float some.

I think your post answered your own question. When Wiggins and Parker were in high school, they were billed as the best prospects since LBJ. Wiggins was listed as a SG/SF in the draft. Before the Summer League, a lot of Cavs fans thought Wiggins would be our starting SG, with LBJ at SF. Many were so sure, they wanted Waiters traded for other assets.

Speaking only for myself, the Summer League showed, there was no way in hell Wiggins is starting SG in the NBA. Wiggins can barely dribble at all, if he has to use his left hand. One assist in four games reflects very poorly, it's an amazing number. Think about it, how many NBA starters at any position, have so little court awareness that they turn in a number like that. By the end of the Summer League, no one supported starting Wiggins over Waiters at SG.

Wiggins value to the Cavs, was at SF. With the return of LBJ, Wiggins became a very rich back up player. I don't see him beating out LBJ in the next few years. The Cavs did the best thing for him and the team by trading him for other needed assets.

He loves the move the ol' Wig-Dog!

It's a big long article--

In a poll conducted at the NBA’s rookie photo shoot, a group of 38 rookies overwhelmingly voted Parker as the player most likely to win the Rookie of the Year award. That speaks to the perception that Wiggins will be far from a finished product in his first season. A more interesting note from that poll was the response to the question of “Which rookie will have the best career?” Parker (45.9), theBulls’ McDermott (13.5) and the SunsT.J. Warren (8.1) all received more votes than Wiggins (5.4). Fellow Wolves rookie Zach LaVine received the same percentage.

The results of that poll will have no bearing on Wiggins’ future in the NBA, but they do serve as an indication of the uncertainty surrounding his standing among other players selected in this draft class. The Timberwolves appear to have landed a fine return for Love, but that’s only if you assume Wiggins will come close to realizing his grand potential. Though many will try, that’s a question we can’t reasonably expect to answer for several years.

Too bad he has to be stuck on the worst franchise ever.

Minnesota might be the most depressing sports town.

Chill that's one of my home states[emoji23].... But with Wiggins, Dieng, Peck they have a good future.

Also the Vikings look good Teddy looks promising as well as the RB and Patterson. I also think there coach is for real.

If the kid ends up being a superstar, the Cavs made a mistake regardless. Love just can't sign for 6-8 years, Wiggins needs to be at best a Wilkins ceiling for the trade to work. If it ends up more a Bryant ceiling, we screwed up bad. Real real bad.

You're just throwing out names.

He needs to be a Wilkins ceiling for the trade to work? For who? Us? That makes no sense at all. Why wouldn't Wiggins being a total bust also make the trade work? Why does he have to, at least, be as good as Wilkins? I'm seriously sitting here trying to figure what the fuck you meant, but I'm coming up empty.

Back to not clicking show post.

Good for him with the points and blocks but I think the stats are a little bias. The two key points being he shot 4/11, played 32 minutes and the best player guarding him was CJ Miles. Other than that, he was solid. Not trying to rain on his parade. I'll be happy if he does well, but I don't want to say we made a mistake one game into the preseason.

He looked pretty nice in the highlight reel.

This kid would NOT have helped us win a ring though, that's just a fact.

Actually the trade just works if Kevin Love helps us win a few championships. If Wiggins ends up being as good as Kobe Fucking Bryant then sure, maybe I might be a little unhappy, until I look up at the Q and see the banners that Kevin Love helped bring to Cleveland.
