Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sure... Embiid has the potential to be the best player in the league, as does Kyrie and does Wiggins, as does Davis, as does Parker, etc...

Personally, I don't think Wiggins or Parker have the potential to be the best players in the league. Kyrie is borderline, but that's probably just me being a Cavs homer. I think that, if you're a forward, you have to be a great playmaker to be the best in the game. Wiggins and Parker lack the vision and passing ability to be that kind of great. Wiggins also lacks the handles to be much more than a great scorer and elite athlete. Sure, he might improve his handles a bit, but I don't think he'll be able to improve them to the point where it makes him a top five player in the league. I liked Parker a lot, but I see him more as a Carmelo Anthony-esque one-dimensional player. Plenty of talent, but not good enough to ever be the best in the game.

Kyrie is just the total package, especially if he can keep improving his defense. The best handles in the game, great scoring from anywhere on the court, good size for his position, good vision and passing ability (that's not to say he always makes the right pass or passes at all, but the ability is there)...he's just pretty great at everything offensively, and his game is flashy enough to get people to notice. I think his defense will keep him from ever being the best in the NBA (especially since Davis seems to have that on lockdown for the foreseeable future), and I think he lacks the elite athleticism to ever be a great defender. He can be a good one, and is already heading that way now. I just don't think he'll ever be great on that end.

Wiggins has taken 10 free throws already in the first quarter (10/10). :doh (17): Please don't take this as me trying to knock Wiggins, but honestly I feel like he gets to the line so much because he's so lightweight and skinny, and every time he drives, he gets thrown like a rag doll after the contact. Seriously, that's what I've taken away from watching, which is why I don't think he should bulk up too much. He should use it to his advantage.

We've all seen how LBJ doesn't get as many calls as he should because he's so strong, and contact doesn't phase him as much (it was the same case for Shaq). People said Durant should have bulked up, but he's done just fine. Maybe he can gain a little bit of weight, but I honestly don't think Wiggins should be playing anything above maybe 10-15 pounds higher than his current weight.

Wiggins has been pretty average as of late. I haven't watched any games as I did early in the season but lately just check box scores. Are people catching on to his tendencies and he's not adjusting or just a string of average games?

According to Wolves and the games I've seen he's hitting the rookie wall and it doesn't help that Flip plays him all games and he guards the other teams #1. Also teams are straight mugging him which is hurting him as he gets no calls. I remember the clips game last week he had a good 1st quarter than Barnes just started playing football with him and Wiggins started settling for jump shots. He needs to add weight this summer.

I don't agree at all with the notion that he gets no calls. Every time I watch him, the whistles come when he gets the contact at the hoop, especially since he's skinny and he bounces right off defenders. He's gotten 8+ free throw attempts in 5 of his last 9 games. He's 19th in the whole league in total free throw attempts. That doesn't sound like "no calls" to me.

He just needs to be more aggressive and stop settling for jump shots. Obviously he's not gonna get superstar calls and get 6-7 trips to the line every game like Harden if that's what you're expecting, but this is the NBA and he's a rookie. He has to earn that respect from the refs first. I mean like I said though he's already 19th in FTA, which is in the upper 5% of the whole league so I don't know what more you want.

Like All4One says above, this is off base. He gets a ridiculous amount of calls for a rookie. I too think some of it has to do with his slim build right now. He draws a ton of fouls on some really ticky tack shit because 1) he looks like he could blow away in the breeze and 2) sells his contact a bunch.

Ahem, James Harden manufactured superstar.

Andrew Wiggins Plans To Remain With Wolves For 'Very, Very, Very Long Time'

Andrew Wiggins has already been mentioned as a potential addition for the Toronto Raptors due to the franchise being his home team.

However, Wiggins expects to remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves long term.

“I love Minnesota,” Wiggins said. “They treat me nice up there. I plan to be there a very, very, very long time.”

To earn free agency, Wiggins would, theoretically, have to turn down a large contract extension from Minnesota following the 2016-17 season and eschew the restricted free agency process.

Just wait until the fifth or sixth year in a row of missing the playoffs. :chuckle:

I think he draws a lot of fouls just because he's quick. Great athlete as he is both quick and can jump high. (Do agree he's slight of frame so he's more impacted by contact)

I'm always left with the same impression with him: always feel like he should be producing more then he has based on his combination of raw athleticism and jumpshot. Don't know if this is good for his future or not.

I got Wiggins prime at about:

22ppg, 5rpg, 4apg on 46/35/78

with elite defense.

I figure that'd put him in the top 25 in the league, settling in somewhere in the middle of Jason Richardson and Tracy McGrady type production. I think that's probably pretty realistic for him.
