I know Andy Marte is a name that alot of Tribe fans cringe at hearing, but is anybody paying attention to what he is doing in AAA? The dude is mashing right now and is still only 25 years old. With the way this year is going I think he has at least earned another chance to prove his worth, it's not like Peralta is doing anything up here.

Andy Marte (.329) went 4-for-4 and hit two home runs and drove in four runs to lead the Clippers over visiting Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pa., 6-2, Thursday in a Class AAA International League game.

Bring him up. We have nothing to lose. I would rather watch him than Peralta. God Peralta is just straight terrible this year.

The only reason I would want Marte here, is for his defense, which is actually pretty good now. Most likely he'll still be the same hitter who is a dead fastball hitter who can't hit much of anything else. But I guess you never know, he might have changed.

It's worth a shot. It'd be his last chance with the Tribe, honestly. he's already on borrowed time. But maybe, just maybe he has finally woken up? Couldn't hurt. Like you said, Peralta is worthless.

Agree with you guys. I mean what do we have to lose? Maybe he is a late bloomer like Gutierrez, and we all saw what he did to us in the recent Mariners/Tribe series. This kid at least deserves another chance.

we have to give him another shot...

if we don't, he could walk the same path as Phillips, Gutierrez, Branyan, etc...
he would seemingly be an upgrade over Peralta (definitely defensively, hopefully offensively)

What the hell does it matter? Bring him up...we aren't going anywhere we need to be exploring the minors to see what these younger guys can do. We can't afford Brandon Phillips part 2 if this kid indeed turns it around.

Yes, changed is very possible. It's a fact that some players simply don't start to get it until later in their 20's. We see it time and time again where the Indians gave up on a player only to have that player blossom to being pretty good.

The indians don't have anything to lose but a spot on the bench more times where Peralta might find himself. Bring up Marte and let's just see what happens.

It's very worrying however that Wedge is going to reside over all the changes coming. It's double that if both Wedge and Shapiro are gone at the end of the year. It's hard to imagine why the Dolans don't understand what is going on, unless they actually think both of them will be back next year. I don't get why they are allowing Wedge to remain if they actually thought he wasn't going to be the manager next year.

But gosh; it's nice to realize the Tribe will be playing good baseball the rest of this year. It's not a coincidence that a Wedge managed team year after year starts playing well when they are totally out of the playoffs.

Might as well bring him up and see if he can contribute next year.

Does he have any options left? If not, bringing him up now worries me.

They are allowing Wedge to play the year out because they don't want to pay two coaches.

...why? It's the guy's last shot either way. The Indians already tried to get rid of him but there were no takers. Really, whether he has options or not is a moot point.

Might as well bring up some rookies. We really should evaluate who is staying and who is going and bring up players like Marte and LaPorta and just let them get some big league experience. If they do something to boost their confidence, then great, but hopefully they realize the team is struggling, and if they do too, it isn't their fault and they just keep working.

I figure he will be up some time after the trading deadline. The Tribe is looking to deal a couple hitters and that would free up playing time for LaPorta and Marte.

You do have to take the option into consideration. With the way Marte has hit at AAA this year, if the team called him up and then tried to send him back to Columbus before the end of the season he would most certainly be claimed this time. I guess it goes hand-in-hand with dealing Garko/Shoppach; no point in calling him up unless the team has playing time for him. They have to see if he is 'for real' and has taken that step forward.

These guys will be up, just be patient. The team has clearly been showcasing Garko, and if Grady ends up back on the DL for an extended stint that would open up more evaluation time.

I agree that Marte deserves another chance. However, having said that, I'll note what Pluto said in his column today - that Marte is out of options. If he is called up, he has to remain on the 40 man roster. He will have to clear waivers to be "sent down" again. He may not clear waivers this time unless he bombs at the ML level.

I also agree that we should wait until the trade deadline is over to make a move on Marte. Rumor has it that Garko is on the trading block. Also, I guess it is possible that we trade Peralta this year, but I don't know any team that would want him. If we trade Garko and Jamie Carroll, that opens up positions for Marte to fill on the roster. Personally, I would want to see a lot of Peralta riding the pine while we give Marte a true shot.

I am overjoyed that Cabrera has blossomed at short stop like many of us felt he would. This just puts Peralta that much closer to a trade. Peralta needs to go. I can live with any amount of "rookie" mistakes at third just to have Peralta gone.

I should note that I am really liking what I see in Chis Gimenez. Kid has played three positions very well defensively (C, 1B, RF) and he seems to have pop in his bat, even if his BA is low. I hear he can play 3B also, which gives us insurance if Marte does not work out - until Hodges is ready (next year?).

If Garko is traded, you call up LaPorta.. Just bring up Marte when the Rosters expand, or if someone goes on the DL or another trade, etc..
