What do we have to lose?
Yes. Allowing Wedge to be the manager the rest of the year hurts the Indians in the long run in a big way. Oh sure, it may be true the Dolans don't want to pay two managers if he was fired right now, but how does that help the team's future? We know darn well Shapiro has told Wedge he will evaluate him at end of year. Because of this, of course Wedge wants to WIN as many games as possible the rest of the year. The team will play real well now that nothing is on the line. We have a case where the best interests of the team and of the manager/coaches is at exact opposites. NOT good.I agree with the consensus here... there's no reason not to bring him up and play him everyday to see if he can cut it. Of course, there's no reason we shouldn't bring up LaPorta or any other prospect for that matter who is pretty much major league ready because we have to know what we have moving forward.
The problem we have is that we have a manager who is fighting to keep his job and even BEFORE his job was on the line, getting him to play his young guys was like pulling teeth. How many cracks did Delucci's terrible bat get before we finally kicked him to the curb? It's a real problem and hopefully Shapiro can pull off some trades to create vacancies that Wedge has no choice to fill but with our young talent.
I may be in the minority but I am not giving up on Peralta just yet.. I think he might respond to a new coaching staff, because Wedge is terrible, and I'm surprised any of our players have developed under him. If we get a new staff, we might see Peralta back to his .270, 20 HRs, and 70-80 RBIs. He has it in him.
Players like Sizemore, Victor, Choo, Hafner don't need coaching. They have pure talents, and eye for the plate and just flat out know how to hit. Then there are guys like Peralta, Gutierrez, Francisco, who all struggled against breaking pitches. Gutierrez went to Seattle, I'm assuming he had more instructing, and now he waits on the ball more, he'll go opposite field which he never did here. That is why you see some guys we deal get better else where, better coaching.

The only way I see that our young good prospects get called up in a week or so is if we trade away players like Garko, Shoppach, Carrol, and Peralta. We could get some nice players back for the first three. I'd take a bag of chips for Peralta right now, in spite of his grand slam. I'm sick of players starting to play well when the pressure is off.
Waiting until September is too damn late to call up Marte. We need to find out for sure if he can play MLB or not. Call him up this weekend along with LaPorta and Brantley. I liked Gimenez behind the plate. This kid could be very valuable to us in the future with all the positions he can play well.
What do we have to lose?
They just stated that Marte was being called up tomorrow, but Wedge said he would be playing first base. huh?
Where else would he play? First is the only place where there is playing time right now.
Well, that useless piece of shit Peralta could be benched/traded/thrown in my trunk.
