Andy Marte...do I dare say he is ready?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I hope they continue to run Marte out there until the end of the month. The ABs are there until then to give him a chance to find his swing in the bigs. Will it happen? Probably not. I happen to think he is hurt, but that is my own personal and unsubstantiated opinion. LaPorta will be up with the September callups and probably take regular ABs at that time. Until then? Keep shuffling Marte out there and see. It can't hurt, how about that? The season is a wash, and Marte will be on the DFA bubble once the season ends.
I agree. I'm for Marte playing daily. I'm for Gimenez sitting the bench as he has at least two more minor league options. We may as well give Marte at least that much. Further; I don't think Gimenez is going to cut it anyhoo. Him and Marte and Peralta and Shoppach and Sowers can pick splinters anywhere they wish but on the Tribe roster.

Marte picking it up lately. I know people were getting on him for a slow start after being called up but we should at least give him the rest of the season, we have nothing to lose.

Average is up around .250 now and 6 for his last 18.

Wow, i didn't realize how bad this guy actually was. .605 OPS in 500 career ab's Might be time to cut the cord and give up hope, with those kind of numbers he couldn't even play on the Pirates.

If by picking it up you mean he has a .292 SLUG, then yes, I suppose he is.

He's nothing more than a singles hitter anymore. God knows where that power has gone.

...and then tonight he hits his first homerun on the year.

Did he need a guidebook to make it around the bases without stopping?

It costs nothing to see how Marte performs for the rest of the season. The fact is that he has shown real improvement at the plate over the last 8 games. It is to the Tribe's advantage to see him come around and be the big league player they thought they were getting. I'm rooting for him.

By picking it "up", I mean that the numbers have been on the "rise". Since he started slowly, they have been steadily going up the last week or two. Obviously you can quote his low numbers because he started poorly. I'll judge him when the years over. He is looking a bit more confident lately.

That being said then if he still has the crap numbers you listed at the end of the season, it will be clear he won't add up to much.

Also, LaPorta seems like a doubles machine, no? He looks promising. Let's hope we don't have a similar thread for him in a few years.

Triple for Marte in Camden Yards, baby. 8 game hitting streak. Hopefully he'll keep it up.

His OPS is up to .758. Fuck all of you that doubt this face:

I do not understand anyone who does not think we should play Marte from here on out. Explain your rational.

Right. Matter of fact; a case can be made to put him at 3rd base and LaPorta at 1st for the rest of the year. We have more young players who will join the team in a few days, and I'm not sure we need Peralta playing 3rd to the detriment of the young kids. Matter of fact; isn't it getting kind of boring watching Peralta suck up the field for the first two months of EACH year, and then catching fire after the team is out of contention? Why not trade this guy when his value is at it's peak?.... whatever the word "peak" means as it pertains to him. :) I really do not want another year seeing Peralta do what he does. It's another case of doing the same thing in hopes of seeing a different outcome.

LOL, it shouldn't be, 'as a matter of fact'; it should just be. They need to start the rest of the year, especially Marte. He's out of options.
