Very nice thought. I certainly want Wedge gone at the end of the year. I'd never thought about the Peralta/wedge aspect of things, and that just maybe Wedge IS THE problem with Peralta. Good stuff.Good points about Peralta but here's something to think about.
Cleveland Indians trend: sucking the first half of the year, picking it up second half.
Ja-honny Peralta trend: sucking the first half of the year, picking it up second half.
The constant: Eric Wedge
Who's to say finally getting rid of Wedge wouldn't end the same problems with Peralta that the team as a whole seems to have?
I also believe the "country club" aspects of a Wedge spring training season has something to do with the slow starts year in and year out. That might work against someone like Peralta. Once Wedge is gone and a new spring training regiment is in place, things may very well be different.
