Are the 2009 Orlando Magic the Godfathers of today’s modern offense?

Easy solution for all this: eliminate corner 3s and change shots made within the restricted zone and dunks to be worth 2.5 points. Watch big man basketball return to form.

I think eliminating the corner three would be enough because it would greatly shrink the area of the perimeter that has to be covered. I'd start there.

I would eliminate the corner three and move the “rest” of the three point arc out from 23’9” to 25 feet (so add a little more than a foot). I saw some stats indicating that players shoot 30% from 25-29 feet. That would do a lot to rebalance the game and it wouldn’t be difficult. It also would make it more exciting when you did hit a three

I think they ought to start by removing the corner 3 in the G-league and see what happens. It might change the game in ways that are appealing, it might not, but it seems to me that one of the benefits of the g-league is its a place to experiment with these kinds of things. To my taste, the game needs to be balanced. I don't want to see half the shots being taken from the 3 point line, but I also don't want everything being about getting to the rim or free throw line.

That 2009 Orlando series was one of the deepest disappointments in Cavs history feels like

You all who want the 3pt line moved back are idiotekas. We just got like the best 3pt shooters in the league, wouldn't you want to see success, before failure?

The Cavs are the exact type of team to benefit from moving the 3 point line back. Their bombers are just as effective from that deep, and added space for the bigs to work inside would be a godsend.

The short corner 3 needs to go in my opinion. It's too easy of a shot, relative to player ability, for how many points it yields. I'd start by just running the natural curve of the 3 point line into the sideline.

Garland is probably one of the best truly deep three point shooters in the league
