Avengers: Infinity War spoiler thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Future Adam Warlock, perhaps?

Right, Warlock exists throughout a long section of time; so there's no reason he can't already have a developed persona even in 1990s Captain Marvel..

In fact, I think Nick Fury is "paging" Captain Marvel in the past.. and we KNOW the Infinity Gauntlet will reverse The Snap, so time is definitely going to play a role here...

But I'd be a bit disappointed if Adam Warlock wasn't introduced before the next Infinity War. His role is absolutely critical to everything that's happening beyond this point.

As for Adam Warlock, he has to be saved for Gotg 3 IMO.

I don't know how the Avengers honestly win this battle without Adam Warlock....

I mean, to me, it makes sense that Nebula gets the gauntlet, reverses The Snap, and becomes the new end-game antagonist because her mind is corrupted with the power of the Infinity Gauntlet. That might happen after a fight with the remaining Avengers + Captain Marvel, maybe -- they fight, lose, and Thanos ascends -- Nebula gets the gauntlet from Thanos because, subconsciously, he sabotages himself...

But even then, how/why does Thanos even allow himself to be engaged in the first place? He'd know the Avengers are coming -- and the Gauntlet grants him omnipotence.. Again, it seems like you need Adam Warlock there since he exists outside the boundaries of Order and Chaos; so Thanos cannot predict his next move...

Also, what happens to the Gauntlet at the end? Who gets it? Only Warlock has the wisdom to take the Gauntlet and down the road, only he would know who to give the individual gems to in order to keep them safe.

So to me, the movie would feel incomplete without Adam Warlock.

Saw it again and I think this is my new favorite marvel movie.

This, then Strange, GoTG 1, Captain America Civil War, and Deadpool.

Btw what the next infinity war really needs is Deadpool. The Deadpool/Star Lord/Tony Stark interactions would be amazing.

The MCU seems perfectly setup for Warlock to make his debut either before or during Avengers 4.

Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock makes sense... And knowing Warlock was originally considered to be part of Infinity War, I dunno if they would just cut him out of the entire story only to bring him about in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 -- seems like a massive waste.

Maybe? Seems like they are intent as introducing him as a foe for GotG3.

If they were going to use him in Infinity War I think they would have just used the cocoon in the Collector's lair as his origin.

I think the Captain Marvel storyline causes a shift in the Avengers timeline. Creating a new timeline in which the Avengers beat Thanos before collecting the gauntlet. There seem to be details out there about refilming the Battle of New York that lead me to believe that is the case.

Ive read Infinity Gauntlet and understand Adam's importance, but I dont know how you have this knight in shining armor literally introduce himself in the story line...only to have him kill Thanos. If GOTG 3 was 1st, I would buy it. I just dont think the casual fan would be too happy with that outcome. They want to see the guys they have been cheering for all this time to somehow come out on top.

Glad I avoided spoilers! The ending sequence was really cool, but it's hard to gut-punch ya when you know they can't REALLY kill off Black Panther or Spider-man. Still, it was a more compelling super hero movie than most, as I was legitimately afraid for the lives of all the heroes throughout.

I wonder how they'll reverse the snap and whether it will be able to bring EVERYONE back or if they'll strategically use this as an opportunity to tie up some loose ends. Maybe they'll play with time travel as well? And even in a snap reversal you have other characters that may be dead anyway, like Loki and Gamora.

Kinda cool that everyone was waiting for a main Avenger to die only for the original core to be intact going into Part 2.

Thanos was really well handled and worthy of the hype. So many cool moments and funny lines.

Still haven't seen Thor 3 or Black Panther, so I'll have to get to that.

It was awesome. Probably my favorite MCU movie (haven't seen Black Panther), or at least right there with Dr. Strange and Guardians 1.
Agreed, it’s much better than black panther by the way (my opinion). Then again I think black panthert is the most overrated film in the mcu if we’re going by universal praise and reviews.

After seeing Thanos it’s painfuly obvious how mediocre some of the bad guys were before this.

I am surprised they took down Spider-Man though. I thought for sure he would be saved because Sony still has him and they would want to squeeze another film in before part 2.

I swear to God when I opened this thread I knew you were about to post exactly this... Powers of prediction?? :chuckle:

Nah.. Loki is no joke and Ultron is easily one of the most bad-ass villains in all of Marvel.

Part 2 comes out next year; Spider-Man 2 won't be out until 2020. All the people who were whisked away by the Soul Gem are the newer characters who had movies already coming out.

Ok, this might be a dumb or obvious question, and I admit I am not a comic historian or anything, but what is the answer to why the X-Men are not part of the Avengers world?

From a TRADITIONAL comic book point of view (not a series of crossover books) are the X-men considered to be in a different universe then the Avengers group? Is it just different story lines that are in no way connected? Have there been crossover stories between the 2 groups?

To me it'd just be a huge missed opportunity to not have Warlock in the Infinite War films considering he, Strange, and the Surfer are the main protagonists.

You knew I was going to discuss black panther in the Avengers thread? How is that? Black Panther wasn't a bad movie, but it also wasn't the second coming of citizen kane.

They are, just not in the MCU due to licensing rights... Now that Disney owns Fox; that will change in the next phase of the MCU though... You'll likely see Scarlet Witch retconned into being a mutant, and other mutants showing up later.

From a TRADITIONAL comic book point of view (not a series of crossover books) are the X-men considered to be in a different universe then the Avengers group?

Nope. Scarlet Witch and Wolverine are both mainline X-Men; both are there to fight Thanos during the Infinity War. Captain Marvel (Ms. Marvel) also joins the X-Men, even though she's not technically a mutant of sorts.

Is it just different story lines that are in no way connected? Have there been crossover stories between the 2 groups?

They exist in the same universe and several X-Men are Avengers and vice versa. While their goals do not always (or even usually align), both groups exist concurrently in the world. Just keep in mind that the X-Men are mutants, so their motivations are often quite different, particularly when it comes to the treatment of their fellow mutants.

Black Panther is unapologetic in it's worldview and subject matter; so people who have views that are incompatible with the worldview presented in and throughout BP seem to strongly dislike the film.

Black Panther wasn't a bad movie, but it also wasn't the second coming of citizen kane.

Black Panther > Citizen Kane (a movie I think personally isn't all that great, from a cinematic perspective)...

But FWIW, BP was the first and only successful MCU movie that wasn't simply an action film. I think that's one of the many reasons so many people, including myself (and I really dislike most action movies), found it refreshing. You walk in expecting a cookie-cutter action movie, and walk out having experienced something completely different.

Is it one of the greatest movies of all time? Lol, no; of course not. But is it one of the best comic book films of all time; i.e. Top 5? Sure, I think so; I think most people would agree. But everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I didn't say I disliked the film. I said that it was overrated, and what you go on to say here reaffirms my belief. Off the top of my head:

Iron Man 1
Guardians of the galaxy
Infinity War
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Captain America 2 and 3
Dr. Strange
Thor: Ragnarok
Deadpool

are all comic book films I enjoyed more. I also enjoyed Citizen Kane more since we are comparing those two films.

Also, i'm going to challenge your world views statement. Breitbart gave it a glowing review if what you're trying to say is people with conservative political views don't like Black Panther.

Ty, I don't doubt you enjoyed those films more; that wasn't my point.

Anyway, you're certainly entitled to your opinion; and all of the movies you listed are good films, some are even great (TDK, Infinity War, Doctor Strange). I'm not a huge fan of Iron Man 1, or Civil War but, to each his own.

I also enjoyed Citizen Kane more since we are comparing those two films.

That is weird to me... Why is that?
