Avengers: Infinity War spoiler thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One thing I got out of watching Infinity War has to do with how Thanos was portrayed. He is by far the best portrayed villain to date...and I hope it gives writers inspiration to carry that forward.

Hopefully, we can finally get an accurate and thorough portrayal of Dr. Doom in a movie soon. How would you feel about a stand alone for a villain like Doom?

So nobody that died was due to have a movie out between now and part 2?
Only 2 movies between now and then are Ant Man sequel and Captain Marvel. My guess is Ant Man takes place in between Civil War and Infinity War. Maybe they set up time travel via the quantum realm?

Captain Marvel is going to be set in the 90s, so anyone could be in it. Samuel L Jackson is confirmed to be in it. My guess is it sets up Avengers 4.

I was thinking about this the other day in a broader sense, why NOT have a movie focused on a truly bad villain. Not one who we see has some compassion, or who turns at the end, or even has to die at the end.

Use your example of Dr. Doom, or say the Joker. Dudes are bad. They don't turn. They destroy and kill, and maybe at the end they get bested, but there is a twist that shows they will be back.

Yes, it would be dark and there would be many who don't like a bad guy winning...but I bet it would sell tickets, and that is the bottom line in Hollywood for if it is a successful film or not.

It irks me that American film makers almost always have to have a "good" ending, whereas many foreign films end with no happy ending. I dunno, kinda like life sometimes?

Possible plot hole:

When Thanos is wrecking everybody and then turns back time to get the Mind Stone out of Vision...why does everyone EXCEPT Thor attack Thanos? If anyone should've attacked him, it would be the guy who can actually kill him. Or at least chop off his arm.

Probably still fighting? I’ll have to watch again, but I remember him having to fly in when Thanos gets the axe

Yes, he was on the battlefield still, flying around destroying the invading ships. He was not yet on that location.

Cap called everyone to his location and said "we've got incoming" and everyone else left the battlefield. Except for the one guy who spent the whole movie crafting a weapon to kill Thanos.

Not saying it ruined the movie. Just a weird moment.

Thor wasn't patched in. He showed up to the battle unexpectedly.

Good point.

Although neither were Rocket or Groot, and at least Groot tried to stop Thanos (I think Rocket did too).

I read that Peter Parker tells Tony Stark in the park that he's from the future, kind of in passing. Several people have confirmed. Anyone on here catch it?

So can Groot lift Thor's new hatchet? Well, if he was alive?

The MCU seems perfectly setup for Warlock to make his debut either before or during Avengers 4.

Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock makes sense... And knowing Warlock was originally considered to be part of Infinity War, I dunno if they would just cut him out of the entire story only to bring him about in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 -- seems like a massive waste.

I’m not sure if they bring in Warlock but hopefully they do before IW2. It might throw everyone off if he shows up in IW2 since he’s not really a mainstream character.

One character they haven’t mentioned is Nova. Thanos already had the Power Stone in the beginning of IW and Thor mentioned in passing that Thanos destroyed Xandar a week prior. Maybe they’ll introduce him in the next phase.

Saw something where they were saying that the deaths are permanent and they aren't all going to just be undone in Avengers 4.

I'm guessing that is the MCU equivalent of the GoT writers/actors saying you-know-who is really, truly dead over and over and over right before they resurrect him two episodes into the next season. :chuckle:
