Bang Bang Georges Niang

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That behind the back pass by Mitchell was INSANE. Somehow I missed that while watching the game last night. That should be the play of the night.
You're not the only one who seems to have missed that. I made a sarcastic comment in the game thread but otherwise crickets. That pass has to be up there with the most amazing assists of the year IMO. Mitchell is so "next level". I feel he is greatly under-appreciated.

I know who I’m giving an all star vote for

Not taking away from Niang, but he has the game of his life for 33 points, Mitchell has an average game that included and incredible assist and scored 31 points. Mitchell really is something special.

I'm not sure if Niang will ever have a game as good as last night for the rest of his career, but it was sure fun to watch!
How could he?! Almost no one has ever had a game that good. It took Kobe 46 shots to score 81. Georges could do it in 30.

He got so much speed on that when he basically just flicked the wrist and the defenders body immediately closed the gap. I never saw that pass as far as I know

Out of curiosity I looked it up: Donovan Mitchell scored 71 on 34 shots. Of course he took 25 free throws and went into (a controversial) overtime.

This is why you give up three FRPs to get a player like this guy! :)

What I really like about Niang is his ability to find open spots in the half court offense to make a catch and shoot three easy for the player driving with the ball.

For European football, the Germans have a word for players who excel at finding open space: raumdeuter. It translates to a space invader. Niang is a raumdeuter. He constantly moves into open spots and creates better angles for his teammates to find him with a pass.

This is what I believe stands in the way of Wade being a part of the rotation in the playoffs. In the past month, Wade averages 5.4 attempts from the field for a 37% field goal percentage. Niang in the same stretch averages 9.2 attempts for a 51% field goal percentage. This isn't just a result of the ball handler looking for Niang the player more often or a different offense designed when Niang is in. It's the same offense with Niang being a smart and active raumdeuter.

One is allowed to drive (or does it anyway). One is told not to and doesn’t. The 3 point %’s are equal. One of them has more minutes than the other as well. One guards and one can’t. But points are the only things fans notice.

One has a confidence problem the other DGAF and moves and shoots.
Wade had a recent stretch of 6 games averaging 20mins with 1.6... 3pt attempts.
That cant happen. He needs to pick up the volume or be treated like a defensive specialist.
To Randolph's point it almost feels like Wade is afraid to get himself open and be forced to shoot.

Niang doesn't have that issue. He moves and is ready to shoot the rock at all times.

I’m sure you know him pretty well….How many touches did he get on those nights? I’ve seen nights he never touched it in 5-6 minute stretch. And he is a defensive specialist. And yeah I like Georges shooting it too!
