Bang Bang Georges Niang

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Niang praising Donovan for not taking it all on himself and getting others involved.

Came to Cleveland:

1. Loved our young core
2. Played with DM
3. They needed shooting

“If you don’t have a lot of skill then you have to pick up the slack somewhere right?” (Referring to leadership qualities). “Always been a talker but put it to good use”

On 33 point game “How was it when you scored 33”. “Told them to don’t dribble, just pass and I’ll make it from anywhere” (joking). Said teammates were determined to get him career high, and said his last shot hit the rim 17 times before it went in.

Says he lacks skill and speed so there’s no superstar he can model himself on.

When our team is fully healthy, he's not really deserving of minutes.

I’d run him at the point Anthony Mason style…

He has a place anytime a team starts pushing our more slender guys around. The guy can bang with anybody, and he doesn't back down for anyone. Between him and TT we'll have a hole card to play if a game turns rough.
Yeah, GN brings more to the table than his stat line indicates. Would I like him to ht 40% from 3? Yes. Do I think he's valuable in other aspects of the game? Yes.

I didn't think anyone could have slower footspeed than a guy unironically named "Slo Mo," but here we are...

Georges Niang is more than capable of having everyone hate him again within 72 hours

That goes for any player. One bad night and the haters will descend like vultures on a dead carcass. So far they’ve left Sam alone but a couple more bad shooting nights and we’ll hear “now we know why nobody else kept him” and other deep takes.

Niang is a good target though because he could give a shit about what anybody outside the team thinks.

Niang was a major factor in beating the T-wolves. He brung it last night on a night where Merrill and Wade were less than magic. That's how teams string together wins. Every player can't step it up every game but as long as you have one or 2 guys who do have their mojo going on it can be different guys every night. On rare nights nobody will have it and those will be losses.

Even if he has his share of crappy games, in my mind Niang has a lot of value as a banger and a shot maker, at least as one more option who can help you get a win on any given night.

It's up to JBB to give these guys enough run time to be able to assess what they have on any given night, then bump up the minutes for the hot hands and cut back on the cool hands.
