Bang Bang Georges Niang

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think you're all being too generous, but I'll let it go. Zion, by all standards, had a good game, nearly great game. If anyone else on his team could do anything last night, we'd all be talking about how Zion abused Niang. But alas... Zion still got his stuff pretty damn easy. Mitchell, Garland, LeVert, Okoro, etc... had their hands everywhere and were getting in spaces that made it harder to get stuff to Zion. Zion only had 2 turnovers, and one of those for sure was Mitchell's hands.

Anyways, not trying to rain on what was a good game by Niang standards. But I definitely don't think he did a good job on Zion.

Jones and Allen literally too Valenciunus out of the game for instance. Anyways, carry on.

Zion had more TOs than assists *because* of the job Niang did. As I mentioned (a few times), Niang kept Zion from collapsing the defense, which kept everyone under their averages and held the Pelicans to under 90pts (until Naji hit 7 in the last 2min of garbage time). He did it by absorbing Zions drives and making him go through and around Georges. Most guys get bowled over, but Georges didn't. Watch how tired Zion was. Watch how he couldn't/didn't do anything but drive with his head down. That's not "good Zion," despite what the boxscore says. The reason they've begun putting him at PG is so he can put pressure on defenses and get players involved. Georges didn't allow that.

Niang is one of those guys that people love to hate.

I do not understand why anyone supporting the Cavaliers would hate the guy. He gives 100% on the court and I think he’s got a great attitude. He’s willing to do whatever is asked of him which has been a broader role in Cleveland than previous stops.

If you hate your own player because he’s not athletic or skilled then you’re mad at someone‘s limits which I think is unfair.

But we had people mad at Okoro because he is 6’4” instead of what was previously advertised. Not sure how that’s Isaac’s fault.

I personally love niang but he can't play if we're healthy. I can't believe Zion didn't go for 70 last night

Before you can hate someone else you must learn to hate yourself.

Zion always gets tired ha. That is his problem.

But anyways, I still think you're way too generous, but at least it's in good light of our players.

I'll like to see Zion and George's wrestle for big macs. My money is on Niang..

I watched it with my own two eyes...and the results were the Pelicans getting blasted at home by a team without 2 starters, and a 3rd playing his first game coming off a knee injury...and scoring less than 100pts...

I don't hate him one bit, I hate the situations JBB puts him in. To say he lack laterally movement is an understatement. Dude is as slow as molasses. There's just some matchups he can't physically handle but JB the fucktard he is, keeps troughing him out there to get picked on. He was beast against fatass Zion though.

I would say because he doesn't fit the prototype. He's not super athletic, he doesn't get off the floor, he doesn't have great lateral movement.

What he does have is bulk, strength, toughness, tenacity, experience. and his own particular set of skills when it comes to getting buckets. He isn't pretty but in certain matchups he can be effective. Actually more effective than longer players who get pushed around in certain aspects of the game. He wears guys down, he frustrates guys trying to box out and bully in the paint, he has a knack for swatting the ball out of people's hands.

There are ways for opposing coaches to "play him off the floor". But that's the point, forcing them adjust to you. Sometimes that can be useful.

George isn’t a star and was never meant to be. At his price point, he is meant to be a role player, a compliment to the stars. He is essentially another tool in the shed - he has his time and use. He’s another option that can be tried in different situations. I think he’s pretty good in that role.

It's hard to argue with the results. Their entire game plan was iso and trying to collapse the defense and the it ended up Zion and Ingram had to score all their points. The fact it was the only the 3rd time in NBA history that a team with 3 ft shots every won and they won by so much was pretty convincing. Pelicans have some good shooters, but it looks like if you can play Zion straight up they won't get their shots.

I wasn't that impressed with Zion in this game at all. He got fouls he prob won't in the Playoffs.

HIs fg% which was all at the rim was 61%. That's nine points under his average and worse than CPJ shoots. I don't think he took any shots outside the paint.

1 assist and got just 9 rebounds. Looks to me like he played right into their defensive game plan.

If results conflict with the narrative there will always be people who argue the narrative is correct and the results are wrong.

Occasionally that is the right way to look at it (like the idiot who I saw double down on a 12 and won was still an idiot) but when you get good results consistently then just maybe the narrative is off.

I saw that in Corporate Life for decades. If actual results fall short of the budget it’s always a performance issue and never an unrealistic budget. Because people are NEVER unrealistic with their expectations.

As far as this season is concerned I challenge anyone to name a team that’s been more fun to follow. We’ve had a ton of exciting wins against really good teams, we’ve played well through adversity, we got Gobert to foul out, we kicked Draymond in the nuts one game and got him tossed the other, Strus went nuts, Wade went nuts, CPJ rammed a bucket down Embiid’s throat in overtime, Garland is killing it with threes since the break, Donovan evolved into a floor general, Niang is fucking hilarious, I could go on but it‘s been a blast. We’re moving, we’re shooting, we’re playing D, we’re killing it on the road and we’ve proved we can give the best teams a game.
