Bills Updates: Pick Watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Going to go down as another Julio Jones-esque trade. Every year, I pray we will just take the elite talent, instead of acquiring good players and then drafting 1 pick after all the elite guys are taken.

I really liked Watkins a lot pre draft but I still don't mind the trade.

8-8 for Bufalo would slot the pick anywhere from probably 15-19.

I'm still of the opinion trading that pick away, to move down just 4 slots, is worth a mid 1st EVERY single time. I don't care how good that guy becomes in your previous slot. It is incredible value.

This team is really close. Having two firsts next year will be a huge shot in the arm. It could allow us to nab two starters, which would alleviate pressure to spend money in FA. We can be more selective there and allocate money to guys who are going to need new contracts.

Yep, still an excellent trade. I thought Buffalo was going to be good until the injury bug hit them, then I got my hopes up. Props to them for finding a way to get it done missing so many guys.

I'd rather have 1 stud than 2 good starters

You've already determined how the PTBNL's career will go?

I'm having a hard enough time making a call on Justin Gilbert. Admittedly, Sammy has been very good.

Jets fans be like:

No Browns today means diverting our attention elsewhere. Here's hoping the visiting Chiefs can start Buffalo's tailspin...

The Julio Jones trade was still a good deal..

We didn't make smart draft picks with the picks we acquired, but that's irrelevant to the original trade. The trade itself was good, the execution of the picks acquired in the trade is what was bad. Two separate things..

And this isn't the NBA, fellas, where the lower you pick, the less talent that's available. This is the NFL draft and you can find talent anywhere in the draft.

Still a good trade that I'd do 10 times out of 10.

Yeah, it probably will.

Watkins will go on to toil on mediocre teams which struggle to build a winner until Buffalo realizes paying wide receivers absurd money isn't a great idea and he moves on.

People cream over the hyped skill player every year, but the draft is about value.

Still do the trade ten times out of ten.

Touchdown Alex Smith! C'mon Chiefs you can do this.

Big time. Hopefully Buffalo's morale starts declining and they start losing these close games. Their schedule in December consists of the Broncos in Denver, the Packers in Buffalo, the Raiders in Oakland, and the Patriots in New England...although the Pats might be resting starters by then.

Well, Watkins on a rookie deal is probably a great deal financially, not absurd money at all.

But yeah, I'd still do the trade, hopefully we just trade back, we seem to do better with later round picks anyways...

Marrone did us all a solid yesterday by not taking the field goal near the end there. It would've left more time on the clock and allowed them to have a try at the game-winner had they still stuffed KC after, rather than needing to go 80 yards for a TD with 35 seconds left.

Every time I hear "Marrone" or "Trestman", it makes me think of coaches that were in the running. Then I look at a day like yesterday, particularly with Trestman, and his team is down 42-0 at the HALF. The ONLY way that happens is if the coaches lose the players. What I am getting at is that Trestman has had moments with that offense but good God did they suck yesterday (off of a bye), and the Browns, through a little bit of luck, ended up with a coach that has us in sole possession of 1st place. Crazy...

The draft is a crapshoot, the more shots you have at talent the better the shot at landing talented people. It's the Green Bay, New England and Philly way.

A story of warning. As much as I want Mike Pettine to be the guy today and forever, it takes more than 9 games to settle in. It's even tougher to keep that buy-in over a long period of time. I'm hoping like hell this isn't 2007..
