Even though he'd say the same thing if Weeden went 0TDs and 5INT's?

Why would Turner be honest about this? Did you watch the same game as us?

Just curious, what else would Turner say? "This loss is all Weeden's fault. The offense was clicking on all cylinders, O Line play was fantastic, and receivers caught everything thrown their way, but damn if Weeden didn't fuck it up anyhow..."

Obviously the entire offense short of Richardson and Cameron struggled at times. That doesn't excuse inept play from Weeden. Of course his OC will back him up, Weeden is working hard for Norm, but he just doesn't seem to have it.

Again, he'll come out and have some good games, he's capable of producing in stretches, but it's becoming pretty evident he isn't effective enough to be a franchise QB.

Turn on a SF game, or a GB game. Hell, take a look at St. Louis and watch Bradford sling it. Just watch a team with a capable QB, and ask yourself if Weeden is even in that realm. He has a lot more in common with a guy like Derek Anderson than a guy like Stafford or Roethlisberger, but he has the most potential on the Browns roster right now, so he's still our starting QB, and Turner has to do his best to defend his QB and put him in a position to win games.

I did, i seen Weeden getting pressured a lot and only one of those interceptions was his fault

And how much of that pressure resulted because Weeden tried running around his tackles into the flat instead of stepping up into the pocket? There were certainly plays where Cousins simply got beat and let his rusher through, but often Weeden hold onto the ball too long and avoids the pocket like its lava, which makes the O Lines job significantly harder.

He could probably say something about appreciating the work Brandon's put in and that he can be a player in the NFL, but right now the best chance to win is handing over the first team to Jason Campbell?

That happens in Week 8.

Campbell sucks, we'd have a better chance with Hoyer than Campbell

I'm not advocating starting Campbell, just pointing out that a coach can diplomatically announce the team is going in a different direction at quarterback.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Campbell is the very definition of mediocrity. While I would hate to root for him as a long time solution at QB, make no doubt he'd be far more effective under center right now than Weeden. Weeds needs to make a leap just to become mediocre.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

I really don't see the point of putting Campbell in if Weeden continues to struggle. If Campbell really is better than Weeden we win 2 or 3 more games and still end up with 5 or less wins. Might as well stick with Weeds and see if ideally something clicks. If not, at least you have a higher draft pick instead of 2 to 3 more meaningless wins.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

I still think we win about 7 or 8 games.

Think too many people are overreacting over one game.

It's not the one game so much as it's the flashbacks the one game is giving us of the 16 last year.

When people were talking about 7 or 8+ wins at the beginning of the season, they were doing that with visions of an improved Weeden in a vertical passing offense tailored around his strengths. Yes it's a bit premature after one game but you can't blame people when they see the exact same Weeden who stunk the joint up last year reappear in both in the dress rehearsal game and in Week 1.

The reason people want to stink enough to get Bridgewater is obvious. We have enough talent already on this team that, with Bridgewater, a few picks and another free agent class, we could easily go from worst to first in 1 year... and there's no way in hell that's going to happen with Weeden as QB barring a miracle.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

All of those interceptions were Weeden's fault. He threw 3 picks. Trying to justify those picks, is being bias.

He'll probably throw a few more Sunday. But somehow it'll be everyone's fault, but Weeden.

If people want to support him, fine by me. Don't try to convince me that a smell turd actually smells like a bed of fresh roses though.
