Brandon Weeden: GTFO!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

I feel like I'm going to become the default Weeden supporter here, even though that's not stance I want to take... :chuckles:

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Andy Dalton:
58 percent completion percentage
3.9 TD percentage
2.3 INT percentage
6.6 YPA
11.3 YPC
80 QB rating

Colt McCoy:
57 percent completion percentage
2.7 TD percentage
2.4 INT percentage
7.1 YPA
11.7 YPC
74 QB rating

If you switch the two quarterbacks, giving McCoy a combo of Green, Simpson, Gresham and Benson......I think these two QBs are pretty much interchangeable.

If the goal is Andy Dalton, Colt McCoy can ABSOLUTELY be that player.

The goal isn't Andy Dalton and you know it. The goal is to come in as a rookie and show your potential, not make a ton of huge mistakes, and have a positive impact on the offense.

Or in McCoy's case, regress.

I'm with you, Smooth. But I feel like people will start warming up to him pretty quickly when our passing game is instantly much improved from day one.

Until then we must listen to b00bie's bitching and moaning

I expect Andy Dalton to steadily improve with time, as he's only 24.

McCoy is only 25.

I'd be interested to see what both QBs will be at 28.

If McCoy is putting up Dalton-esque numbers in a regression year, I'd feel pretty confident in that for the future.

With that said, I think both have the potential to be average....and are both currently below average.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Even though multiple sources have stated this won't affect him as a football player?

He doesn't need to grow physically as a player like many rookies do, he's already developed. I see no reason why other aspects of his game can't improve with coaching. Saying otherwise is simply ridiculous.

Yeah, he's the only QB to not come from a pro-style offense. Clearly the Redskins shouldn't have made that move for RG3 then.
RG3 also has lots (read: years) to learn the offense. Weeden would have to step up and know it come this season. There's a lack of experience in the offense that's going to take at least one year (more likely a couple) for Weeden to fully grasp. (That should cover your first two points.)

I don't think they're infallible, but given their track record I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and not make reactionary judgments.

There are a lot of good players on the board still, including your beloved Ruben Randle. The draft isn't over yet.
Of course, there were better players on the board at 22 than there are going to be at 37. We could have gotten a very solid offensive lineman. Instead, that's going to be pushed back to possibly the third round now.

And neither will have half the arm that Weeden has.

Why the hell am I defending Weeden?

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

This game aint all about arm strength.

DO YOU EVEN WATCH FOOTBALL.

Brandon Weeden has a hose, and he has amazing accuracy. Jesus christ. its like you just bitch to bitch.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Weeden over DeCastro and Reiff was simply gut wrenching.

Because Boobie is driving you to it. Before he is done, I am expecting quite a few of the posters that dislike picking Weeden to eventually support him on some level because of how over the top Boobie is. His obsession is annoying as hell. He needs to take a chill pill.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Heckert had Weeden at 13 on his big board. If that doesn't speak volumes about Weeden, then i don't know what does.

I've said all I'm going to say about Brandon Weeden.

He's not the golden armed deadly accurate passer you're making him out to be.

After Kendall Wright was taken, I really wanted Reiff. He was thought to be the 2nd best OLineman in the draft for quite some time. I think he would be a steal at #22.

Just a shame.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Pretty clear that with Wright and Floyd gone, Heckert saw that a solid WR can be had at 37. What he couldn't guarantee was that his QB would be there. After initial surprise, the pick makes sense. If he's our starter for the next 5-7 years, it will be a great pick.
