Brendan Haywood's Trade Exception

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The players can do whatever they want, but if I was the player and was already R I C H, I would take less money, so my team could be better.

I'll take your word for it, but unless you've ever been faced with a comparable situation(and no choosing between two jobs with a difference of $10,000 in salary does not count) then it's pretty difficult to no for sure what you'd do in the prime of your career given the choice of $20 million per year or $10 million per year.

BTW, how would we have more to spend on FA if the owners took less revenue?

If the owners gave the players a bigger share of the BRI(currently around 50%) then the salary cap would go up.

Of course, this extra money would be realized by all teams so it would not benefit them all equally as some markets have built in advantages. And over time, the same arguments and salary cap dynamics would spring up.

The whole point is, people often wonder/wish about a star player on their team taking less of their earning potential to allow for other players to fit in to their teams salary situation. Do they ask/expect coaches, execs, and team owners to also put a cap on their earning potential?

Hill had a good year? He played 43 games due to two injuries. He had some flashes of his talent defensively, especially against the Cavaliers. I've always liked his game... but no, pretty dissapointing season for Hill.

Okay, you are talking about in negotiating a new deal. I thought you were talking about one specific owner taking less revenue in a year. I was like. That doesn't matter. The cap is the cap ;).

You are right, you never know. But considering the job I work, I am confident I would take less if I had already made as much money as LBJ has.

One of the issues is that LeBron is highly involved in the players union. The union would never want a player to set that precedent and probably wasn't thrilled about Duncan doing it, even though Duncan didn't first do it till he was 34.

George Hill would be a great option if we can have him. He would be the perfect back-up point-guard. Is a good ball-handler and can run the offense. Can play without the ball as well, since he is good from beyond the arc and is a good defender.

Sadly, I don't see Indiana letting him go. Pacers as an organization aren't exactly someone who "tank". Don't see any reason why they would take Haywood's contract and let their first choice point guard walk away.

LMA is in Toronto talking to the Raptors. I wonder if there is someone there we can get for Haywood.

Where is that being reported? He can't meet with the Raptors until July 1, or else it is tampering.

IF LMA wanted to end his career now, he'd be better off just retiring.

Pretty sure he meant that LMA will me with the Raptors when he meets with teams. It has been confirmed by multiple people.

I'd rather arrange for Toronto to end up with LMA than some of these other teams. They have a very bright GM, but I think Toronto has a lot of pretenders on that roster.

I'd be cool with him staying out West and joining the Lakers. Russell/Kobe/Aldridge is a fun team, but they won't be winning the conference.

Toronto also has extra 1st round picks coming in 2016 and 2017. Derozan and a low 1st rounder would be a nice haul for Haywood.

Do you think they'd seek to "dump" him, though? Seems like a borderline bad idea that would go over horribly in Toronto.
