Brendan Haywood's Trade Exception

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Moving a Center that we have Bird rights to, that literally help transform us into a defensive juggernaut is never a good plan. He's young too. Unless we can nab a better C, then fuck no imo.

Danny boy would have to suck it up for two years (when hopefully it's all worth it when we win titles), and then we can cut/trade Andy when his deal is non-guaranteed. By that time we'll have Love, Moz, and TT locked into deals, with Splitter's deal being up. Maybe we resign him to a $5-6 mil a year deal or we go find someone else.

Can you imagine Aldridge sitting down with Pop and Duncan. Duncan will be sitting there telling him he's the next great big man in a line of big men for the Spurs and how he is passing the torch to him. It just seems like Spurs have the most compelling offer.

I don't know if I want to help SA out. Imagine getting torched by Aldridge in the finals.

Would be pretty funny if that was The Finals matchup. We'll certainly be there.

Yeah, they're exactly the type of team you want to help if it means getting yourself better.

Not in your conference so you wouldn't have to go through them until the Finals (if they even make it out of the slaughterhouse that is the West when teams are completely healthy) and you know the players you are getting back are talented, have been developed well, and have been coached well. Plus you kill their depth, which is what has made them special since Timmy, Manu, and Parker have exited their primes.

at some juncture SA will age to the point where there won't be enough spurs magic in the world to boost these guys to the finals. duncan has been pretty durable, but parker has been getting beaten up quite a bit and ginobli has really been less than effective. no doubt they can gather up some vet min guys to use, but gutting some of their younger guys will make it tough for them.

Completely agree, and going forward, a Parker, Leonard, LMA big 3 doesn't scare me at all. Two players on max deals, and a team that won't hit the luxury tax to get better.

They would need to find another couple Ginobli's and Parker's in the late draft, and those guys will take a long time to develop. By the time they would be in position to dominate again, Parker will be near retirement, and Aldridge will be in his mid 30's.

I really like Moz. Truthfully I do. I think he was a steal for what we got him for. However, if I truly ask myself if he's unequivocally better than Splitter, I'm not so sure if that's the case. I think any solid defensive center stepping into the starting role in Cleveland is going to look really good.

I'm not trying to knock Moz as a player, but there was a gaping hole in the middle prior to him arriving. Again, he did a great job after the trade, but what (aside from youth) does he bring that Splitter couldn't? If we're truly able to get Splitter and Mills from SAS and then turn around and get a strong young perimeter player for Moz, aren't we overall a better team? I'd have to think so.

To be honest, I haven't seen Splitter play enough to form an adequate opinion on if he could take Moz's spot. I'm sure there's others that can speak on that. I'm just saying that I've seen enough of him to know that he's a good defender. I'd likely prefer getting Diaw and Mills anyway if possible.

Shooting is a big one. Mozgov has decent range, Splitter can't really function outside the area right around the hoop. And free throw shooting has tended to be a nightmare for Tiago. Moz is solid there. Splitter would be borderline unplayable in the 4th quarter.

A big one is solid range. He is athletic as hell for a big guy too, very quick laterally, which is important. The contract is another important thing, since if we want to move him, and Shump at the deadline, that would actually be a solid package.

But the biggest one is, and forgive me if I am wrong (stats might bear a different result than my eyes), but Mozzy is an elite rim protecter. Playing him changes the dynamic of the game. He goes straight up, he rebounds well, and he is quick enough to be a good help defender too.

If Mozzy can improve his shooting a little bit, he will be far and away the best C that LeBron has ever played with, if he isn't already. Shooting, and improving his hands should be the priority for him. If he does, a lot of mobey is coming his way.

Just Mozgov's presence on the roster had an impact on the lineups the Warriors presented to us. One of the main reasons they went super-duper small was to get Timo off the floor. With Tristan and Love/AV in the rotation, they'd have to pick their poison and they'd all be deadly.

So, even in games where Timo could barely play because of what the Warriors were doing, the mere option of being able to insert him in the game got them away from what had won them 60+ games.

He isn't going anywhere. I'm also not going to complain if we find a way to add Splitter. No, it wouldn't fill the biggest need on the roster, but he's a damn good player and you can't have enough of those.

Basketball is becoming more positionless by the season anyways. I'm confident Blatt would find creative ways to use him.

I really like the idea of Mills is a lot younger than Mo and a really positive locker and bench presence, plus he is a proven finals performer, does not shy away from big shots in the clutch and he is hella fast
