Browns Free Agency 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Like the guy who said he was done because the Browns didn't sign Suh, I might actually be done if they sign Bowe. What a great strategy to not draft WRs and then sign WRs on the tail-end of their career who were at best average in their prime. That's how to build a winner.

You do know we can still draft WR in this draft, even if we sign Bowe, right?

News break: the Browns are not going to draft a WR.

Much like the guy who said he was done when the Browns didn't sign Suh, that's a pretty stupid rationale.

I'd take a look at Bradford, but not at all for a first round pick. Not sure I believe we seriously offered a first though. I can't think they're that stupid.

I liked Bradford a lot coming out of Oklahoma, I thought he stood a great chance to be a franchise QB. Obviously I've been wrong about that.

His health is a glaring problem, and even if he has shown real glimpses of being a franchise QB (he really hasn't, he's not been horrible either, and the Rams line especially early in his career was horrific too), I still wouldn't offer a first for a guy that has yet to stay healthy.

But if he was available for low value, I'd definitely take a look at him.

They aren't trading Bradford.

He was part of the lure of getting his college teammate Demarco Murray to sign this week. If Chip was planning on moving him he wouldn't have used him as a recruiting tool.

I think Chip envisions Bradford running a fun and gun style like they had at Oklahoma that helped make him successful in the first place.

I have no doubt the Browns offered a first for him, but I can see why Chip isn't interested as well.

If healthy, Bradford is upgrade to Foles. But I think Chip is still gunning for Mariota. But if that doesn't work, Bradford isn't a bad option.

Nick Foles is not that good. I mean come on, don't be fooled by his performance a year ago. Kelly's system made noodle arm Sanchez look respectable.

Losing Foles is not a biggie at all though. He had his Derek Anderson, one-hit-wonder season, and fell off dramatically last season until he got hurt. Glad the Browns didn't go after him.

People are going to believe Chip is gunning for Mariota throughout his career.

He's not, but people are going to believe it regardless.

Even if he didn't go to Oregon, Mariota has to at least be considered by Chip and the Eagles. Unless you're dead certain you can rely on Bradford's health, I don't know how anyone can be, even if he is an upgrade at what you had at the position.

I don't think they're certain of his health, but it's become blatantly obvious they are going with him and Sanchez at the position going forward.

You don't want Bowe going on other visits.. If he's your guy.

I think, because he hasn't played in a year and a half, people forget just how talented Sam Bradford really is. Those Rams teams he played for were really bad but Bradford played well for a guy in his mid-20's running for his life. Shit, he's still only 27 years old right now.

Both ACL injuries were "contact" injuries, I'd be more worried if he was running in the open field and pulled up. The American Journal of Sports Medicine conducted a study of ACL injuries and they concluded that ACL injuries don't shorten careers and a large majority are able to continue on their development path. However, they found a common theme to knee injuries that will derail a career: a meniscus tear. Guys like Adrian Peterson did not tear their meniscus along with the ACL, RGIII did tear his meniscus when he tore his ACL. As far as I know Bradford hasn't torn his meniscus. Yeah, the health is a risk but probably not as great as many people think. For a team so shitty in their QB evaluations as the Browns are, yeah, I would've used #19 to get Bradford.

FWIW, I don't see how Mariota fits Chip's NFL offense. Accuracy is #1 QB priority in that system....

The guy has a history of being injured throughout his entire career, not just the ACLs. Too much risk, for a guy although I do agree that's been pretty good, but not great though. There's not enough there to say he has, or was heading that direction yet. I don't disagree he's not that bad though.

You trade number one picks for franchise QBs, it's just really hard to make that argument for Bradford at this point. I'd definitely want him, but we can't afford to keep goofing on first round picks like we have.

He's not coming here though.

The Browns should just keep them, swallow the shit storm that we're likely to have at the position this year, and at least get two quality players with those picks.

I really don't want to go with McCown, but I don't want to do something drastic just to get a QB that we might not be all that sold on.
