Browns hire Rob Chudzinski

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Whats wrong with Derek Anderson? I think is a competent choice to sign here.

He is very comparable to Weeden in skill set and this is very desirable. For one, you don't have to worry about changing the game plan between these two players. If one goes down to injury the other can jump in mid-game and run the same exact game plan. We couldn't do this with a Colt/Weeden combo, because they are two vastly different players.

It is also desirable in terms of a quarterback competition. Having two players who play the same style allows them to push each other without wasting first team reps. The first team plays the same playbook and there is no need to tailor the offense to separate players.

A big reason it took so long to make the Tebow switch in Denver was because Tebow ran a completely different offense from Orton. There is a lot of reps that need to be taken in practice to instill a whole new playbook midseason. With a Weeden/Anderson pairing, there isn't a whole new playbook needed (..for Colt. cough cough) in order to run an effective offense. Every snap taken for reps will be utilized to the fullest extent.

I'm not sure why people are mocking this attempted signing. It is smart from top to bottom for a new regime without their hand groomed pick at quarterback. It's a low risk move and I would applaud it.

Very solid reasoning but DA is what he is. I'd rather go with Weeden and a rook, or Weeden and Thad, or try and pry Ryan Mallet from New England as our backup/development QB.

Ya, the whole things is just...weird. The way he puts it out there just sounds so....desperate. It's like crawling back to the ex you shat all over, and two years later asking if it's too late to now get the Charmin out and wipe her all clean again.

I see this move as a sign.

This regime has deemed they have other holes to fill before it fills QB. Or, they don't like any of the top round QBs in this draft (which I don't blame them).

A signing of Anderson allows you to draft a rook, a later round rook, and let him sit in third string. It allows you to not draft a QB this year and wait until there is better pickings. It allows you to focus your money in FA on players who will make the best impact for the buck instead of vastly overpaying for a Flynn/Cassel type quarterback.

This regime seems to have the same ideas as the last regime in terms of "best bang for the buck"... and I think that for right now, Anderson provides that.

"I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured."

Fair enough. And I will never forget you laughing on the sidelines during yet another miserable performance in a blowout loss.

/Douchebag.

Can someone explain to this guy that most of those fans weren't cheering his injury, but cheering the opportunity to see another guy in the job he should have lost at that point?

Were some cheering his injury? Yeah, we have some low class fans. But they don't represent the entire stadium. It's like the Cassel situation in KC earlier in the year. He was playing horrible, get injured, Quinn comes in, fans cheer. You're paid to perform.. when you don't perform move aside.

Fans would have cheered just as hard and probably harder if he had been pulled out of the game as opposed to being injured.

Yes, because these two circumstances are comparable. How dare the guy who actually plays the game laughs at some remark or comment made during a loss. The nerve!

The thing about Anderson's comments is that... he was exactly right. Browns fans are brutal- they turn on players/coaches/FO members at the drop of a hat, are incredibly irrational, and really have no idea what constitutes a winning football operation in the modern NFL. He was clearly lashing out after a disappointing end to his tenure here, but there was truth there. Yes, I realize that laughing at any point during a loss is grounds for eternal hatred and being labeled a 'douchebag' by the people sitting at home in front of their TVs, but he did speak some truth when he pointed out how ruthless, fickle and irrational Browns fans are.

Well if that's the case, then apparently I am ruthless and irrational for not wanting my QB to laugh his dick off when we are losing by 3 TDs. God forbid we expect that he actually produce when he's getting paid millions of dollars to do so.

Your blind defense of him makes no sense.

He led us to the only 10+ win season since the Browns came back, and only the second 10+ win season since 1988...

And this is the Browns player you pick on for lack of production?

Probably pretty irrational when taking into account you have no idea of the context of the discussion.

Or to still care this much years later.

Don't get me wrong, he's an abortion of a QB. But I laugh when I'm pissed off too sometimes....so I just can't bring myself to give a shit about that whole thing.

Derek Anderson is probably the worst quarterback I have ever seen, and he somehow was worse in Arizona. I would much rather have Thad Lewis be the backup because Derek Anderson has had plenty of opportunities, and all he does is show that he gives you know chance to win games. The fact that Weeden is compared to this guy says a lot about Weeden as well, not good for him.

Know chance at all?

Then you ain't been around too long then. DA is nowhere near the worst QB I have ever seen(and I'm not some DA apologist, either). The list of QB's who are worse could go into the triple digits.
