Let Thompson go out and sign an offer sheet. I dont get why we'd over bid for him. He's worth no where near 80 million. He has to know that. To get a max or close to it you should be competent at multiple facets of the game. He isnt.

I think we would normally, but this is different. This is Rich Paul's boy. So, the Cavs are going to be very careful not to step on anyone's toes.

Although, I know they'd never let him go, but if they allow him to sign an off sheet elsewhere, that means Rich Paul and the Cavs were butting heads.

And that's not going to go over well with LeBron either.

It is what it is. They are probably going to have to cave, and pay him way over his market level.

Who cares what LeBron thinks? Seriously, we've already resigned Kevin Love and Shumpert. We have Haywood's contract still to use in a trade. He's not going to leave town over a standoff with Tristan Thompson. We can always match an offer sheet. Let him walk to the Knicks or Lakers where he'd be utterly useless and a terrible contract.

Why do we think Lebron has all the leverage here. He's tied to Cleveland for the rest of his career.

Thompsons contract is close to 155 mil after luxury taxes over the next 5 years. If I'm Gilbert I'd refuse to pay that for an 8/8 guy.

We should care what he thinks. He's going to hold us hostage for the rest of his career. That's the baggage he brings with him, but it's worth it.

Pissing off your franchise player, even if he isn't going to leave, is just never a good idea.

TT wants 90 mil to be a back up? C'mon, we were over paying him at 80 mil tbh. If he wants 90 mil, let him walk. Get a PF in the Haywood trade and keep it moving.

I'm not saying he isn't a good player or easily replaceable, but he isn't that good. Not even close. Is there anyone in the league making close to that coming off the freakin bench? It's absurd. Dan is being generous and they are getting way too greedy.

But I don't know the full details and maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe TT didn't ask for 90 mil. Guess we will find out.

If thats the situation I completely agree, overpaying to win is cool but you have to take a stand eventually, this would be ridiculous and I love the guy!
