yea, ideally we get a competent 3&D guy to alleviate lebron's minutes, but where do you find competent 3&D guys for cheap? west would be awesome, he's definitely declined, but he's a vet who can actually play, killer from midrange and a legit enforcer (as much as the league allows for these days)

i'd love to have a guy with that edge

I agree I like West a lot. Just really worried about running back the same backcourt/wings that spit the bit in the finals w/o an upgrade. I don't feel more septagenarians on Vet Min covering athletic young-uns is going to be a good answer... but maybe Griffin can McGyver something up with some yarn Haywood's contract and a tic-tac.

Andy is not going to be an every day rotational big next year. He's going to only play sparingly, I guarantee it.

Andy's coming off a severe injury, he's a 10-15 minute guy a night at this point. I doubt he plays every game next year too.

West is getting old, but last year he was one of the very best PFs at shooting long 2-pointers. He shot 46% of all his FGA between 16 feet and the 3 point line, and he hit a remarkable 50.2% of those shots. That makes him someone who can space the floor, even if he's not a traditional 'stretch 4' in the sense of having 3-point range.

He is a solid defender as well. Plus he is a gritty, hard-working, dependable playoff contributor.

He's a talented guy and we need more talent on this team. It would be a big plus to have him. But as Chris points out, not if we have a shot at an actually good perimeter player. But I'd take him over taking a mediocre perimeter player just to say we got one.

Forget everything, go for Wilson Chandler with the Haywood contract.

I don't know what trying to sign David West for the minimum has to do with Wing players? We still can find help there with the Haywood contract. West gives us the best 5 man rotation of bigs in the NBA. Injuries happen and we will be ready for it. Why wouldn't we want him?

You mean Haywood, right? lol

Well the supposition was the West was going to require the MMLE. If he signs for Vet Min, then yeah, who cares.

Ok, if you don't complain when Tristan Thompson is starting in the playoffs.

I was quite happy with his performance as a starter. If someone could convince him not to run toward the basket when LeBron's driving taking his man into LeBron I'd be even happier, but even minus that, I'd rather have a first rate perimeter 3&D than another big.

But if he signs for vet min, I don't care.

I don't disagree, TT did an admirable job. But a David West quality big for MMLE is also valuable. In fact, you could play TT and West together quite a bit. West would also help with our piss poor bench scoring when Lebron's not on the floor.
