Correct, we could use the Haywood contract to chase a wing, but someone has to play ball.

West is turning down money to chase a ring. He knows he's not getting more than he turned down from the Pacers.

Well then we should chase him hard. I don't think we're getting an actually good perimeter player just for the MMLE anyway. We have to pursue ring chasers, that's our comparative advantage over other teams.

How about this?

1. Sign West to the Tax Payer's MLE.
2. Trade Haywood and the rights to Kaun to LAC for Reddick and Farmar
3. Sign Caron Butler for vet min.
4. Decide what you want to do with/pay JR & Delly.
5. Win Championship

Yeah. I don't believe you should sign players to keep them away from other teams as a front office philosophy, but its a nice side effect.

I agree I like West a lot. Just really worried about running back the same backcourt/wings that spit the bit in the finals w/o an upgrade. I don't feel more septagenarians on Vet Min covering athletic young-uns is going to be a good answer... but maybe Griffin can McGyver something up with some yarn Haywood's contract and a tic-tac.

Agree 100, Chris. I feel like we CANT go again with this same backcourt/wings. Feel like an upgrade/ addition is a Necessity.
