Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, I thought the purpose of the game was to win, instead of trips down memory lane. Mo Williams is atrocious in the playoffs, must he have another terrible performance in a Cavs uniform to realize this guy is not the answer? Vet min is all I'd take for him.

He does seem like an ideal vet minimum reserve point guard. He could be the "we need offense" backup while Delly would be the "we need defense" backup. And if Kyrie gets hurt then Mo can at least score with consistency.

Previous seasons Mo Williams numbers mean jack shit to me...last year he put up lower efficiency numbers, albeit with a slight above average TS%, because he was on a TWolves who were decimated by injuries and had no one to create or create for him with Rubio, shockingly, hurt again and on the Hornets he was told to shoot as much as possible because he was, again, on a team devoid of offensive talent on the perimeter with Walker hurt for quite a bit of his time there. And in Portland he was the only one who could create shots outside of Lillard, and the only one worth a damn off the bench, and was that teams 3rd/4th option.

On the Cavs he would vary being a 6th/7th/8th option with much of his shots coming off of wide open looks created by LeBron/Kyrie/K Love. He is a career 38% shooter from 3 and would be getting the best looks he has ever seen since he has been in the league. Plus, he can create for others, which is what Griff emphasized in his presser yesterday. Posted a career high in AST% last year. The Cavs would be hard pressed to find a better player who WANTS to play here while getting the taxpayer MLE. Plus, I love the idea of bringing in an offensive minded vet PG instead of drafting one. Then you can match up Delly/Mo with what you need when the big guns are resting.

Context, my man, context.

First, context about the differences between Mo's role and the team around him from 2008-2010 vs what his role would be here in 2015 and the team around him

Second, the types of player that will be available in this post TV deal climate for the taxpayers MLE of 3 million per season. Examine the lists of free agents this summer and propose alternate signings that you believe would be markedly better than what Mo can bring. The tax payer MLE is not going to bring in a Robin to LeBrons Batman. Thats what Kyrie and Love are for. It's not even going to bring in starters or a 6th man. That's what Shump, JR, Moz, and Tristan are for. It's going to bring you a guy who slots in as the 8th-11th guys on your roster. Which is exactly what Mo would be. What are your expectations for that MLE?

Thirdly, its not all about what Mo would or wouldn't do as the 8th/9th guy in the playoffs. Its also about the journey there and insuring that the guys in front of him all get enough rest and bench time on the road to the playoffs so that they can be rested and healthy for when it counts.

I'm looking at it as more of a general roster upgrade...plug in Mo for either Haywood or Marion's roster spot and it's an upgrade, and actually lowers our average age a bit.

Fair enough. I'd just like to think we can do better. Maybe we can't, but I'd like him to be option C.

Anybody want some Spanish chocolate , Sergio Rodriguez wants to come back to the NBA. He probably got the best handles in Europe right now, definitely the best passer In Europe, three years younger then Mo Williams...... Any thoughts .

GUTS was one of my favorite shows as a kid I must say now...and I'd be fully behind signing Mo to a cheap contract if he'd take it.

He'll probably demand way more than what we can offer with the mini-MLE

Let's hope we bring back Maple the Cavalier Girl (the one in the center that looks like Mo Williams) as well.

Can she shoot (catch my drift?)

Theres a huge difference between Mo struggling as a second option in the playoffs 6 years ago and Mo being a backup PG and the 8th-10th guy in the rotation.

Not wanting him because he isn't "clutch" makes no sense in this context.

Hmm...he would be a roster upgrade in that we'd get another ball-handler, and a sort of creator. I don't think he'll stay ahead of Delly in the rotation, though as the season progresses.

I assume we'll once again take LBJ out after 6 or 7 minutes in the first and then bring him back with the defensive unit to start second quarters that was so good this year. Will Mo play then? The defensive unit was so effective because it had 4 plus defenders and TT who played well defensively in those lineups. Where does Mo fit in? If we do bring him in, he can be an insurance piece but I doubt he'll play consistent minutes since his defense is terrible. The defensive units were so successful last year that I doubt we'll go away from.

I love Mo Williams and I want him back, but let's not ignore his history because his role would be smaller here.

Dion Waiters was supposed to play lights out because he was a fourth option and defenses would ignore him. That did not work out because basketball theory doesn't always pan out. It is logical to assume that Mo would feel less pressure as a 6th man than a #2, but when we need him to hit a shot in the Finals it will be the same shit. Again I love him and would love for him to contribute to a championship here, but if we have ANY better options we take them.

All speculation with no fact.

And the Waiters comparison to a 10+ year vet who is 100x the shooter that Dion is as well as being much more accepting about his role and skill set is a very poor one. Dion didn't work out because he was a 4th option who thought he should be the 1st or 2nd option with the ball in his hands.

How he was in much larger roles during previous seasons means jack shit if he came into this situation. He will be in a role that no one has ever seen him in, so how people can speak as to how he will play as in that role as if it was 100% fact already is lazy, especially citing his previous years in Cleveland when he was the #2 option on offense.

Oh, and you won't find a better option for the taxpayer MLE, because not many people are going to want to come to Cleveland who are better than Mo Williams for that amount of money.
