Will the Cavs snatch them up?

Not sure if Novak and Perry Jones move the needle for us.

Neither is a plus defender. Jones is a man without position. I would not hate dealing for them, but I would rather just add one guy who really fills a need.

I just want to sign JR. Most of the risk is gone now that he made it through the weekend without a fireworks accident. Losing an index finger would have hurt his 3% and shocker foreplay swag.

Someone's got to be able to defend or impersonate Dunleavy.

Go big or go home. Again, if we can come to some agreement with Johnson as to what his pay would look like in year two and three, to be officially signed later, I think we would make up value. Better than sitting on Andys contract with him on crutches again. Johnson fills our biggest need: scoring and creating off the bench while resting LBJ.

Look, if we were ok with paying Joe Johnson then I'd be all for it. But with our team already making the Finals in the first year of this new core, and are confident they can win it all this year with a few small additions, I'm not going to bitch at Gilbert if he doesn't want to pick up that kind of tab. We're nearing an historic team salary for an NBA team, so it's hard to justify Gilbert must go absolutely bonkers and pay 25 mil for a bench player.

And I'm sure the Cavs would still be making money hand over fist.
I don't think it's possible for the Cavs to make anywhere near that much money with all of the revenue sharing. They will lose tens of millions. Of course, that's not counting other non basketball things that Gilbert makes money on based on the Cavs being good, but they have no chance of turning a basketball profit next year.

I'm not sure about what you mentioned regarding turning a basketball profit, but I am sure his overall portfolio won't be in the red.

could this guy be an option?

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2585629/luigi-datome

in limited time his DRPM with Boston +.18

his net rtg is +13 (92.5 D tg) and he hit 45% for the Celtics at the end of the season in bench time (2 shots/game over 21 games)
and his defense FG% was -6.1

I thought he was a restricted but it looks like he's unrestricted

No hipsters, let alone hipsters who speak a romance language as their native tongue. I can smell Datome from here. He has the wingspan of a professional dog walker who sells a little pot on the side. He has the vertical leap of an amateur bee keeper who brags about never owning a car.

The irony is that Gilbert had as much to with the implementation of the stringent luxury tax and the increased revenue sharing as anyone during the last lockout.

No doubt about that!

Assuming everyone else signs, we really don't need Johnson. We should still be looking for a 4th big and some SF depth. Hopefully the Christmas kid pans out. One of my colleagues is a Syracuse alum and he speaks highly of him. Take that for what it's worth.

We just need to cut LBJ's minutes down for the next, oh i don't know, 8+ years. I'd love to find a younger player to do that so we could build some continual chemistry over the course of a couple years.

Sure James Jones looked decent at times this season but he's not versatile and he isn't getting any younger. Don't even get me started on Miller. SF depth, IMO, is still our most glaring weakness on this team as currently constructed.
