Am I in the minority that I'd like to see the Joe Johnson trade + re-signing J.R? The more shooters off the bench, the better, IMO.

F James/Johnson/Miller
F Love/Stoudemire/Jones
C Mozgov/Thompson/Christmas
G Shumpert/Smith/Harris
G Irving/Williams/Dellavedova

There's really no reason to be against it at all, as we aren't the ones footing the bill. We'd likely be the deepest team in the NBA. But again, I think the likelihood of it happening right now is 0%.

Also, a little OT, but...

There's a Cavs fan on Twitter that I really like, but he also happens to believe that Sam The Bullshit Whisperer is the best Cavs reporter out there. How can I help him?

So this is a "by any means necessary" sort of thing? Send them one of these with a card "Love, Sam The Bullshit Whisperer"

or just tell them Chris Parkers name

I'd probably roll with Butler

But in all seriousness, it's very easy for an 'out-of-tower' to be a Lakers "fan" of a Heat "fan." But to be a Cleveland sports fan? That's a special breed of people who live and die for their teams. And even though I only formally stepped foot in the state of Ohio this year (which admittedly brought me closer emotionally to the city than ever before), that deep-seeded connection that continued to grow each year prior

Unfortunately, many of the people on this board were "Heat" fans a mere year ago. Bandwagon fans are the worst type of people, IMO.

You haven't learned to love the game folks. You are all that is wrong with traditional fandom. You are the success chasers, not makers. Ride the bench and hey, maybe you will win a championship. pretty sweet, amirite?

I'll never forget growing up in Columbus, i wasn't that big into sports initially. the 2002 Buckeye Championship changed that. Seeing my grown ass cousins cry like babies will always be etched in my memory. The emotional investment one makes in sports teams is instilled in us from an early age. It's not created out of success. The struggles make winning that much better. As my dad told me from an early age, "Son, i am sorry you were born a Browns fan. At least it's character building."

Do you think Derron Williams being released or traded will hurt my Joe Johnson pipe dream? Or did he request to be sent to Dallas after heRing about Joe leaving?
Glad to know I'm not the only one who has the Joe Johnson pipe dream.

He just fits too perfectly here. He can slide down and play the 3, he can handle the ball, he can do a little bit of everything.

I'm still hopeful they can bring him in.. But I'm no longer believing it actually gets done.

I dunno... I think it's fairly likely.

Dan has to bite the bullet big-time, for one season. Next year the tax-hit will be much less.

But I don't think he screams "All In" from the mountain tops for so long, only to start sparing expenses. In the NBA, you have to capitalize on assets when you have them.

One problem with that, Amare is going to the Heat for vet min.

Buy him a beer, sit-down and explain how leverage works in NBA front offices, agents' offices and how the media can be manipulated for those purposes. Then, point out a few articles from The Bullshit Whisperer that illustrate the Cavs' POV opposed to someone like a Mark Stein or a Woj. It only helps if the guy will open his eyes..

God dammit, I missed the pileup on Arison

As+explained+through+south+park+gifs+reddit_f97ac3_5291908.gif

Skimming through here in the mornings has been brutal the last few days from shit he has started, about time the late night crew jumped down his throat.

And that shit about "If you aren't in Ohio, you aren't a real fan" deserves a temp ban on its own. Fuck out of here.

I am from Europe, from country that most of people from USA doesn't even know, and i watched every game for 4 years of tanking and i have all rights of this World to call myself as a Cavaliers fan.

Yes i watched games when James played first time, but in those 4 years of rebuilding i realized that i really love the club, organization and state, even people there, no matter that i wasn't there even once in my life.

I challenge/dare everyone who says that i am not Cavs fan bcs i am borned and raised in other place, to wake up every second or third day at 1 am or 3 am and to do no matter what for 3 or 4 hours and to go to school, job or some other place straight from the pc chair (for 4 years of rebuilding and loosing). It's not easy, trust me.

Especially if the only way to watch the game is to keep searching live streams and God is my witness, it was really hard to find the good ones because many of them were slow, low quality etc.

So why someone is better than me just because he lives in Ohio? Maybe if you were in my place, you wouldn't even root for Cavs, maybe not even watch NBA games, or maybe you would root for most succesfull teams in NBA history.

You should visit Cleveland sometime :)

I agree with everything you said. He would fit, in the X's and O's sense, very well on this team. The question that needs to be asked is Joe ready for that? If he comes here and fills the "6th man, do everything, albeit, playing less minutes" role, that's awesome. However, that is a complete career change for him. He has been paid like the man for years. He has been relied upon to be a team's 1st or 2nd option since he rose to stardom in Phoenix.

If we bring him on this year, what happens next year? Would he be willing to play a couple more years with a much smaller contract? That, IMO, is the most likely holdup if this deal is still being considered behind closed doors. We are not about to ship out one of our most beloved Cavs for a highly overpriced one year rental. DG and Griff have to be looking at the value in the long run.

Kevin Love is a miserable defender, but he helps us offensively so we live with it.

Just as Moz covers up for Love, Ibaka will provide the rim protection that Kanter doesn't.

Kanter provides OKC with a viable 3rd scoring option in the post they haven't ever had, and it will take tremendous pressure off Westbrook/Durant to have to do everything offensively.

All teams have guys that they live with their crappy defense because they can put up points. Fewer teams live with guys that have little offensive ability but play good defense.

I don't know exactly how you quantify "miserable," but Kevin was a plus defender this year.

  • His DRPM was .96, 32nd of 94 PFs. It was 1.54 last year, 23 of 75 PFs. Most assume that these numbers are a function of his defensive rebounding and low foul rate, but there's more to it than that.
  • The Cavs' DRTG with him on court was 105.3 and was 108.3 with him off; the Cavs were 3 points per 100 possessions better with on court. As maligned as he was last year in Minnesota, the T-wolves' DRTG with him on was 106 and with him off was 106.5, so they were actually .5 points per 100 possessions better defensively with KLove on court.
  • Opponents shot .7% worse against him than they did against all other defenders.
  • Among those who played at least 70 ISO defensive possessions this past season, Love gave up the 6th fewest points per possession; in addition, opponents shot 16 for 64 against him in ISO, the third lowest defensive FG% allowed in ISO defense.
PPP allowed in ISO:

1. CP3 .56
2. Mbah a Moute .57
3. Draymond Green .58
4. Middleton .60
5. Cory Joseph .62
6. Ibaka .63
6. KLove .63

DFG% in ISO:

1. Paul 23.1%
2. Draymond Green 24.8%
3. Love 25%
  • When guarding the roll man in pick and roll, Love excelled. Among those who logged 85+ defensive possessions against the roll man, KLove gave up .78 PPP, 2nd best out of 19 players. He was better than Anthony Davis, Deandre Jordan, Noah, Zach Randolph, Pau, Ibaka, Drummond, Aldridge, West, and Milsap.
  • Love also defended post ups rather well. Among those who logged at least 150 defensive post up possessions, Love was 6th in PPP allowed, better than Gobert, Draymond Green, TT, DeAndre Jordan, Al Horford, Noah, Asik, Hibbert, Drummond, Noel, and Dieng.
  • His defense against spot-up players was probably his weakest area. He gave up .99 PPP (70th out of 117 players with 150+ defensive possessions) to spot-up shooters, tied with Luol Deng, Chris Paul and Kwahi Leonard.

As for the Kanter/Ibaka vs. Mozgov/Love comparison, it really isn't close. Kanter's DRPM is -3.87, the WORST IN THE NBA for centers. Only 7 centers in the NBA have a DRPM below -.70. Even Bargnani and Matt Bonner are ahead of him. He's so terrible defensively that teams he's on don't outscore opponents no matter how many points or rebounds he gets. You might think: "Well, with Serge Ibaka in there, he'll be OK." Nope. In 238 possessions played with Ibaka, OKC gave up a DRTG of 111.5 with Kanter/Ibaka on court. A 111.5 DRTG would put you at 29th out of 30th teams in the league. Even if you put in a great perimeter defender in Roberson who doesn't do anything else, the DRTG is still 110.

Now compare that with Love's situation. With KLove on court, the Cavs' DRTG is 105.3. With Moz and Love in together, the DRTG is 101.2. With Moz in BUT Love off, the DRTG is 102.

Kanter is one of the 3 to 5 worst defenders in the league while KLove though not exactly prime KG or Ben Wallace is still a moderate plus defender even though he may not look to be so.

So what's the official position then on fans with join date July 12th, 2014?
