Here's what my guess of what the wording is going to look like on the 1st round pick if Memphis didn't strip the protection from the pick they owe Minny.

Memphis trades a 1st round pick to Cleveland. The pick is protected 1-5 and 14-30. If Memphis's obligations to Minnesota is extinguished in 2013 then the Cavaliers receive Memphis' 2015 pick if it lands between 6-30.

If the Cavs waive a current player, it has to be Pargo (letting Selby take his place). Let Jones develop in the D-League.

Wayne Ellington is basically post-Cleveland Damon Jones. So...not great.

Otherwise, a great trade for the Cavs. Speights, I think, is the "centerpiece" of the trade. Perhaps now that he's not stuck behind an elite Center and an elite PF, he can get the 20-25mpg he needs to show something.

The short story is that the Memphis pick will go to Minnesota since Memphis will make the playoffs but the original language of the trade makes it require some more complicated legal agreements for any future picks unless Memphis just drops these 2013 conditions now.

Memphis' own 2013 1st round pick to Minnesota via Houston (top 14 protected in the 2013 Draft, top 14 protected in 2014, top 14 protected in 2015, and top 14 protection in 2016 Draft). If Minnesota via Houston has not yet received this first round pick by the 2016 draft, then so long as Memphis' own 2016 2nd round pick is among the top 55 picks then Minnesota via Houston shall instead receive (1) Memphis' own 2016 2nd round pick and (2) cash. If, however, Minnesota via Houston has not yet received this first round pick by the 2016 draft, but Memphis' own 2016 2nd round pick is not among the top 55 picks then Minnesota via Houston shall instead receive (1) Toronto's own 2016 second round pick via Memphis and (2) cash. [Houston - Memphis, 2/24/2011 and then Houston - Minnesota, 6/24/2011]

i've always liked Speights, he'll put up halfway decent numbers and at least has the size to play with bigger guys. however, similar to CJ Miles, he's a black hole, pass it to him in the post, its probably not coming back.
