Channing Frye

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Will try to keep that in mind during the Finals that we are missing out on players like Tyus Jones, what a massive shame.

I'm thrilled we didn't trade for Markieff Morris. Guy has become unbelievably overvalued this season - IMO just because he's been one of the only players readily available to any team all season. One of the best misconceptions in the league is that Markieff Morris can shoot. Out of the 100 players with at least 400 3PA's since 2012-13, Markieff Morris shoots the 10th lowest percentage (31.8)... And looking at the guys ahead of him, more than half either don't shoot 3s anymore, or have improved their percentages.

Wizards got fleeced in their deal for him.
No shit. Late draft picks in the NBA are almost worthless at times. Hell, even early draft picks are sometimes. Anybody complaining about that is clueless.

No, we gave a pick to get rid of AV's albatross contract.

We could have just sent a second to Orlando for Channing Frye (that's all they got for him in the end anyway).

We traded a first to send away AV. That saved us $40M on the cap this year. A late first round pick only costs about 5-10M to buy later.

Great deal.
Pretty sure you can only spend 3 million on a pick.

We gave up a 1st round pick for Channing Frye. Just let that sink in. We give away picks like candy. Unbelievable.

Not really.

You gave up Cunningham and a second rounder to get Frye. You could have made that happen without Portland as long as you threw in the same second rounder that Portland did.

You gave up a first round pick to get Anderson Varejao's contract off of your books. But if you didn't get rid of Andy's contract, the luxury tax implications of adding Frye (or any other player) would be too much. So basically it had to be done to clear up the earlier mistake of overpaying Andy.

Did it really save $40MM?

And the money we've saved by dumping Andy can be used to chase buyout players...

Another benefit that I just thought of is that Frye is partly Kevin Love insurance. Sort of how Mo is Kyrie insurance. Except Frye will actually get minutes and have a bigger role with Andy gone and Timo's role reduced.

Seriously, how is anyone complaining about this move??? We brought in the corpse of Kendrick Perkins to be our 4th big last year, Channing Frye is an actual NBA player with actual basketball skills. Everyone should remember this when he drains his first three as a Cav.

Another old guy that will ride the bench with all the other old guys. We should of tried to get younger and more athletic. I dont know why we always pick up these old has beens it never works. And I seriously don't no why we kept mozgov he's horrible. I don't know how they expect to run with this team. We are one of the oldest teams in the league.

So we're trying to save money the same way Riley did with mike Miller

LBJ is not amused

To put this in perspective, here's how Channing compares this year with some players of note (not all of them, or even the leaders, as Curry is not the leader, despite a belief he is ) in three point shooting thus far (I expect Channing's 3 point shooting to improve this year, as Kyrie's has, and hopefully LeBron's attempts to come down)(Cavs in bold face):

Curry (45%)
Delly (43%)
Klay (42%)
Gasol (41%)
JR (40%)
Frye (39.7%)

Jefferson (39.5%)
Harrison Barnes (39.1 %)
Iguodala (38.7%)
Korver (38.7%)
Love (36.8%)
Bosh (36.5%)
Irving (29%)
LeBron (27.7%)

But can he set a pick like Perk did on Crowder?
