Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's what they're supposed to ask for.

The Browns should rightfully say no and wait for him to fall. I certainly don't buy that Tennessee is taking him at 2, they've got bigger fish to fry there.

I read somewhere that the Browns were also speaking with Oakland in case the Titans do decide that they have bigger fish to fry with that pick.

It feels like the Leonard Williams sliding talk was put out there to make Mariota suitors scramble. At 4 it might still be expensive, but not 2 expensive.

I hate that value chart bullshit...

MM, who is definitely not an Andrew Luck type player coming out of college...

or 3 picks (two 1sts in the top 20, one 2nd) that we can fill major holes with quality guys. I don't really see the value in that with a guy who has question marks in an NFL style offense.

The most recent mock drafts have Mariota going 2.The majority of the mocks having him going there however not to Tennessee but some unknown team. There definitely is smoke that Tennessee wants out of the pick.

Does anyone else feel like I do?

Fuck Chip Kelly. If the Browns help him get the QB of his dreams after the way he boned them over for the Eagles job last year, I'll lose the last ounce of faith I have in this FO. I know it's probably media smoke and nothing more but enough already.

This team has plenty of roster holes of its own to fill. They need to knock this draft out of the park and keep adding talent. You can keep Sam Bradford, he'll look just fine in a green helmet and probably a body cast after week 2.

And one more time, on principle alone... Fuck Chip Kelly.

There is smoke but I don't think I want Mariota anymore

Not after this....

Tennessee probably asked for a 4th for that thing.

I agree, but it all comes down to what the Browns think about MM. If they think he's their guy, then they should do it (from their perspective). Drafting an O line and D lineman isn't going to do jack shit for this team next year. We've been drafting cornerbacks, and D linemen, etc for years now and we've continued to suck. Not saying these positions don't matter, but for the Browns there is no immediate gratification. How long is fat Phil going to be here? They'll basically be drafting someone to replace him right? Maybe they'll draft at tackle, too. A guy to replace Thomas, since he's growing old playing for this perennial doormat of a team. The team will still suck next year like this; it isn't getting much better.

The way they may see it is MM is their guy and if they draft him they immediately fill that hole they've been trying to fill for a decade, which happens to be the most important position on the field.

I'm not convinced MM is that guy, honestly, so I don't know what the hell I'd do if I were them. But it's possible they want to instantly provide a huge boost to this team, which finding their franchise QB would do, as opposed to plugging in a few more marginal pieces that they've been doing for ten years and just continuing in the same cycle of suck.

So Tony Pauline was just on 92.3 and said he got word today that the Browns are involved in a potential 3 team deal that will net us Phillip Rivers if we can't get a deal done for Mariota

Honestly, I would take either of Rivers/Bradford. The question is - would either want to play here?

With all the talk of Rivers, I'm surprised the Browns name hasn't come up until now. Not sure what would be involved but man would that transaction transform this franchise.

Browns with Rivers is a playoff contender, IMO. Easily.

Rivers wants out of San Diego because the franchise is moving to L.A. and he wants more of a small town life for his kids. That is the most Cleveland thing I've heard in a long time.

Hoping it pans out, because I doubt either Mariota or Manziel are ready.

First, let me say that I'd take Rivers if he were on the table. I'm just not sure how much I'm willing to give up for a guy with this going on just this past December/season...

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers' comeback performance Saturday night in the overtime victory at San Francisco against the 49ers was even grittier than it looked.

Team sources tell ESPN that Rivers is playing with a bulging disk in his lower back that doctors fear is on the brink of being herniated.

The disk caused Rivers to miss practice Wednesday for the first time since 2007 even though the injury began to bother him some three weeks ago.

Rivers has taken epidural injections to reduce swelling, according to sources. He hopes to avoid offseason surgery, but it is an option, according to sources.
