Cleveland Browns Select Baylor WR Josh Gordon

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure if this has been reported, but a buddy of mine works for the Browns and said Gordon tweaked his quad before running the 40. He was told to take a pass. Did it anyway and posted the 4.5. Browns think he is faster than that. They love him.

36 inch vertical also has great hands and is 6'3 225 and has been clocked at 4.4. The guy that was drafted from Georgia Teach who ran about 2 routes is worth a second rounder and this guy isn't? I love the risk taking. Being conservative before this years draft has gotten us no where. Adding a potential number 1 wr when you have very little talent at the position is a huge move. One scout said he was "closer to Green then Julio Jones!"

#Browns GM Tom Heckert said Josh Gordon will be No. 1 WR in the NFL and has "elite" skills

I sincerely hope there is an "a" missing between "Josh Gordon will be" and "No. 1 WR in the NFL".

If Heckert thinks this dude is gonna be better than Megatron or Fitz, we have big issues.

Clark Judge lambasted the Browns for this pick. Wild, how negative one can look at the pick.

Most people have been praising the balls to make the move, if not the player overall.

I have the boner the size of a 747 right now.

This offense is going to be so much better with these rookies than it has been for the past decade. Things are looking up.

Taking this guy in my fantasy football rookie draft fo sho.

Are you taking him in the supplemental draft? Cuz that's where he should be drafted lol.

*Edit* Rookie draft? Separate rookie draft? Odd....

The last big name player I remember being in the supplemental draft was Ahmad Brooks, the ILB from Virginia. No need for this.. -MoFlo

No, I was thinking "we got too many dudes who get tossed through glass doors. It's about time we started doing some of the launching."

The most amusing aspect about that incident is how it transpired at a fucking art gallery of all places.

The thing most people forget is that this starts his development a year earlier. The conventional wisdom is that it takes a WR longer to mature to the pro game, usually until the 3rd season. It is better to get Gordon in now and start his development today and have him perform better in 2013 and beyond, rather then being a rookie in 2013 after running a year in a collegiate spread offense. Would you rather use the 40th pick on Gordon in next years draft on 4/26/13, or use the same pick on him now?

Seriously, none. In the last decade that is......

Yeah I know Kosar, Cris Carter (I think) and a few others but it's been a long time.

Yes it only takes one to break the chain but it worries me that no one has hit a home run in the Supplemental Draft in recent memory. Obviously that talent has to be there on the first place, but still, it's usually not.

So no one has seen this cat in a practice yet?

Awful move, just terrible...

(and if i could leave a comment for that 'guy' commenting on this pick in that youtube video, i would tell him to die...)

Seems like a lot. I wonder if this is a desperate move to keep a job at end of next year?

The supplemental draft is not the typical route to the NFL. It takes a very peculiar set of circumstances to land any player in the supplemental, let alone a very talented player. This year, Gordon was the only player taken. It is such a peculiarly small sample size, it is nearly impossible to draw any conclusions about a player's potential based on his selection through the supplemental draft.
