If you count the one he had, he would have had around 5 tonight, if the Cult hero Zizic could have either made his baby hook, or not fumble away a couple of them....lol...Actually he was looking more for his teammates at the beginning of the game more so then I had seen before.....I think going forward playing with Love he probably Guarantee 3 just playing with him and the future...
Definitely not for lack of trying on Sexton's part. I'd have concern if he's unwilling to pass, but he is very willing to give others opportunities.

At the same time, he has not fear when it comes to driving daggers into the hearts of his opponents. I got to watch him live tonight and you could tell he's developing a feel for when he needs to take charge and when he needs to defer to others. You can also see him communicating to his teammates. He's clearly becoming a leader on the floor. Improving on D - I would love to see where he could go with a good defensive coach.

We know he works his butt off. And he's clearly got a fire and a desire to win. He may not be a #1, but I think he could definitely wind up being a pretty good #2. Put him with Zion (especially if Zion continues to show a better long range shooting stroke) and this team could be a lot of fun next year with hopes to turn it around in 20-21 with another pick and some cap space.

He's not selfish he shares the ball. He can break the defense, and it is amazing to watch. He had so many good passes in addition to the 27 points. He is playing a way more complete game than before. Fun to watch.

Rather than just sharing the ball, Sexton needs to start looking to create more scoring opportunities for his teammates. He's the point guard and that's what point guards are expected to do.

We saw under coach Lenny how smooth an offense flows when everyone shares the ball, but there should be a notable difference of impact between the passing of a Mark Price (PG) and that of a Craig Ehlo (SG). In other words, he needs to start playing more like Price and less like Ehlo.

Yes, collin needs to work on his court vision, but some of this has to do with the other players too. When you have players that don't understand how to move without the ball, assists will be low no matter what. That's why collin gets more assists
with love in the game, because love knows how to move.

1 assist.

Its amazing how efficient Sexton gets once you have him playing SG. We are giving allot of the credit to Love, but starting Knight at pg, and moving Sexton off the ball more and into a scoring role has been an amazing transformation.

Also having another play maker next to the 2 guards like Osman helps allot too. Teach the man defense and Sexton becomes a Joe Dumars clone, lol

I really do think he has it in him if he can get stronger and learn to defend.

If Sexton is the pg, what is Knight playing?

Hate to break it to you, Sexton is playing more sg than pg, and guess what, turns out he is a really good sg.

This right here is exactly why I'm not too concerned with sextons assists ratio. If we can net Berret or Morant in the draft that would be plenty of playmakers when added with sexton, cedi and love.

The coaching staff's #1 priority right now is making Sexton a more complete/consistent passer. They've gone on record this month admitting as much. When he gets the ball, quite often behind the three-point line, he's still expected to process the floor like a PG and not a SG.

They want Sexton at PG and for good reason -- he was drafted as a PG and has far less value as an undersized SG. Knight is certainly the better passer at this point, but that in itself is a problem.

As much flack as this coaching staff gets, I gotta admit -- they've done a pretty good job of tweaking Sexton's FTA\3PA rates, which has been a topic of conversation here all season. So not only has his scoring gone up, but his scoring efficiency has as well.

Now we get to see if they can do the improbable -- teaching Sexton to pass.

Next to the 3-pointers and having diffenrent players with playmaking ability, one of the most important part of the modern era is having someone who can get past the defender quickly with the penetration for a lay-up, dunk or an outside pass. Just break the defense to force them to react and create several other new other options. Collin has the speed and handling, now decision-making and that will give him a great career while shooting like this.

Huh? Craig Ehlo? The spot up shooter Craig Ehlo? Don’t get the comparison.

I was at the game last night, and as mentioned earlier, Zizic messed up what should have been 2 additional assist and he also was fouled one a very nice pic and roll pass. I’m not saying he doesn’t need to improve his court vision but looking at 1 assist doesn’t tell the story.

Not to mention with the dribble handoff sets, he’s put into a position where he’s turning the corner and scoring is his best option.

Those last 3 3ptrs were clutch. Two of them were because the defender when under the screen and he made them pay. The last was a pull-up due to him being given space because defenders have to respect his driving ability. Colin is slowly becoming an elite offensive weapon for this team. Let’s watch the games and not the box scores before y’all about his assist numbers.

As long as teams keep going under screens and Collin keeps shooting damn near 50% from three...fuck the assist.

(by the way why are teams still going under the screen against him...? Not that I care :chuckle:)

I’m not concerned with his passing the ball. He does pass it he is not a black hole like Clarkson. He does not stop ball movement. As we get better players around assists will go up. Maybe we didn’t get a Stockton type ph but it looks like we got a good damn player. He is 20. Nowhere near polishing his game. One other thing. Does the kid ever get tired ?
