Connecticut School Shooting

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is just beyond ridiculous. Absolutely disgusting. I'm awaiting all the gun control talking points being brought up, but probably no one saying a thing about mental health. Just horrible to have to read about.

Agree. Good to have you back on the forums!

There's absolutely no way of finding a solution to these problems, and that's the ugly truth.

You're never going to eradicate guns in the US. You're never going to eradicate sociopaths.Just go hug your loved ones and mean it.

And this, I think, is correct. These are the dangers of living in a mostly free society. The police/government can't protect you all the time. You see security and freedom, for the most part, do not co-exist. The freer you are the less secure you are. That's the simple truth of it. Now, we can choose to be less free and therefore more secure, but, I for one, do not like that choice.

I don't know what the brother has to do with this but they keep showing him in handcuffs being taken in. The guys mother was killed at the hands of his child killing brother. Apparently the guy has had no contact with his brother for years. I think it's so irresponsible of the media to show things like this. It actually infuriates me.

There is zero integrity and class in todays media. Unfuckingbelievable.

Im not saying take away guns but they are too easily accessible. Hell Wal Mart had some on sale on black Friday. I think we should limit where guns can be bought and that there is not a mental health screening before you get your license. If the blind are not allowed to drive, why should those who are mentally ill be aloud to purchase weapons.

As for the right to bear arms argument: that was when our English forefathers owned slaves and muskets not semi automatic weapons. Time to evolve.

Its boils down to this :

Guns don't kill people. Its the criminal psychopath that kills people.

Taking guns away does nothing but give more power to criminals because we all know they will still have guns. Like posted earlier, if its not guns its something else. Like Bombs for instance.

Spending money on trying to figure out their mental problem is bullshit too because everyone of them has some different sob story as to why they did what they did. Once we spend millions on figuring those problems out, they will just come up with some other reason as to why they did it.

Its sad and if I had the chance to stop it I would of shot that fucker, no second guesses.

I have a permit to carry. As does my wife. I have a great job, love my life. If you try and take my gun away because someone else can't handle that responsibility, thats horse shit.

^^^^^^^^
Coming from someone named Ohio Slayer does not make me feel any more secure.

KEEP THE GUN TALK IN THE GUN THREAD.

Jeez, is it that hard?

What happened is awful. I feel so bad for those affected by this.

So, after 9/11, you thought it was inappropriate for people to discuss counterterrorism measures or civil liberties regarding our safety?

You think soldiers who gave their lives were all killed because an Iraqi or Afghani legally purchased a firearm and passed a mental health evaluation? The arms market is a multibillion dollar market run by illegal cartels whom can smuggle anything they want in nearly every port in the world. Firearm control is like controlling drugs. There is no end in sight to it and you are going to end up paying money that isn't even real for lives that are all the while empowering the worst criminals on this planet. It's completely nonsensical and not even relevant to this conversation, of a 20 year old with no prior history, shooting up an elementary school.

I think the scope of your example is a little larger than what's going on here, but I see your point. Ideally this thread would just be one to send our condolences to the ones affected by this tragedy, but realistically this thread was bound to turn into what it has become. The question of why this happened is always going to come up and someone is always going to have an "answer". It took all of two or three posts for this shit to start up.

Why do they keep interviewing kids under the age of 10 involved in the shooting? Just unnecessary and ridiculous.. what good comes out of a 7 year old recollecting one of the most traumatic experiences to ever happen in the U.S.?

And why do these news outlets stop cars just to have random adults say the most ridiculous statements? Why do the interviewees think this is a good idea for them?

I just watched a guy tell the news 'the only way to fix this is to get rid of guns,' I've been dying to know the opinion of the old neck beard driving a Cavalier.

There is a gun control thread. Some of us want to discuss this topic without annoying topic of gun control. Please respect us so we can discuss this tragedy without the annoyance. We can get a mod to start banning if you dont understand what no gun control discussion means.

Mod,. please change title of thread to Connecticut School Shooting (NO GUN CONTROL CONVERSATION)

They can't have these children actually go back into this school right? They have been scarred for life. You can only board up and shut the school down IMO.

Most of these kids are too naive to understand what happened. They don't know the type of evil living in the world. Most of them just say they heard a "popping sound" not knowing what gunshots sound like.

Gotta send em back to school eventually. Imagine the ghost stories that will get passed around that school forever. Might not be a bad idea to transfer them all out, but Christ...who's gonna feel good about enrolling their kid there now? Talk about a stigma.

I do wonder how much of this the kids can possibly recall and how it will affect them long term.

And it pisses me off even more that me having a degree in Psychology, that can't get a job in the Psychology field was once told that "there isn't a need for people with Psychology degrees" and "Psychology is a dead end degree now"...Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?!

Not to derail the thread, but there really isn't any need for Psychology degrees. Do you truly feel that your bachelor's in Psych qualifies you to help people this messed up? Go to grad school, all of a sudden you'll have no trouble finding work.
