Dan Gilbert Statement

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is humor right?

No team is going to help us out or give us a pity present.

They have their own fanbases to deal with.

If we are going to be winners, its on Dan Gilbert, Chris Grant, and Byron Scott. Hopefully the can pull it off because if we return to post Daugherty/Price, pre-LeBron era, its going to get ugly.

what he means I think is no one wanted to be the team that traded a second star to cleveland and created a dynasty for years to come. Cleveland is no longer on that level now, they are just one of the boys again, and teams arent going to be demanding as much in return.

Like I posted in one of the threads, his evidence better be pretty damning or I don't think Stern will do anything. Like...evidence that shows without a shadow of a doubt that he violated some sort of major rule or regulation. Anything else just won't be sufficient enough to change LeBron's title hopes.

Even then, at worst he's suspended for a year or something along those lines. I have no idea what exact violation would warrant that action, but he's definitely not going to block the signing. If LBJ was suspended for the year, for example, he'd still win a title before the Cavs would.

I just don't really understand where Gilbert was going there, and IMO that was definitely a line that should have been left out.

Not necessarily. I think Gilbert can have gambling receipts and video evidence that LBJ threw games or shaved points and Stern will look the other way. There has been some shady stuff that happened before (Donaghy) which I still cannot believe that 1 ref can have an impact on a game. Things seem shady to me...

That said I want the dirt. I want it all. Throw everyone under the bus and back it up multiple times. This presser at 1 is going to get good.

They wanted to help the Heat though. They gladly took Beasley off their hands to help them create a dynasty. Smart move Timberfucks. Nothing about this makes me happy, the Heat tanked for years and years to get the team they have and should be penalized for it. Stern just let them create a baseball like atmosphere.

It's rough this morning... anyone not a Cavs fan, it's instantly become fashionable to trash Gilbert for this email. I'm busy fighting with people on FB about it.. if this hasn't quickly become an 'us vs the world' thing, I don't know what ever will.

I do love that Gilbert still guarantees we will win a title before Lebron.....i still have faith in Cleveland and hopefully we'll rise up and win a championship

He's writing checks his ass can't cash.

I loved Gilbert's letter and you have to admire his passion. That said, my greatest fear now is this: Dan Gilbert's pride won't let him tear this thing down and rebuild the team the right way. He may try to add some pieces to this team and rebuild on the fly, which would be a mistake IMO. It could leave the team drifting into years of mediocrity and irrelevance, such as we saw during the Mike Fratello years.

Tearing down the team is necessary now IMO. The Cavaliers just don't have the assets to trade for another superstar or it would have happened by now. Hopefully, Gilbert comes to this realization and he doesn't become disillusioned that he can build a title winner with this club, as it is presently constructed. Otherwise, the Cavaliers are going to become a hard-working team that manages to make the playoffs as a 6-8 seed, followed by a quick playoff exit. In other words, the Fratello years all over again.

Gilbert needs to back his words with some hard evidence.

And he really shouldn´t promise a championship when delivering it surely is not a realistic task.

As a Cavs fan I appreciated his statement. Unfortunately for most of those on the outside looking in, this just looks like sour grapes from an owner who lost his best player. Especially for athletes and the younger generation, LeBron didn't do anything wrong and Gilbert disrespected him. I'm reading a lot about how Gilbert didn't do enough to keep LeBron. Pretty unbelievable for those of us that have been paying attention.

Yeah, but you have to love the confidience

No I don't. His ass can't cash these checks he's writing. It's stupid... I'd rather him come out and say "it's going to take years to rebuild cause that fuckin selfish prick LeBron left".

Yes, that's what I meant. Teams that were not willing to make a deal with us while we had LeBron simply because WE HAD LEBRON, will now be willing to make a deal with us because they won't fear the repercussions of creating a dynasty. I thought it was obvious enough the way I stated it, but somethings fly over some people's heads way too easily.

That we know of. Lets get all the facts and evidence out before we start saying no one did anything wrong. Oh and Lebron disrespected Cleveland and the Cavs franchise. I would have been worse.

Oh shoot; I think most people out there including ALL NBA COACHES, players, GM's, owners, etc,... EXCEPT Miami people/fans, totally understand Dan Gilbert's letter and totally agree with it. Totally.

It needed to be written especially since Gilbert knows this trio of self-centered big heads had this planned for months and months. Guaranteed. Even Windy was on Mike and Mike a few minutes ago and stated they DID HAVE a summit face to face in AKRON the last week of June. Every action the last few weeks have been smoke and mirrors with ESPN playing along.

Was this article posted? This is a LA writer who gets it. I'd say the majority of the country have decided the James image is damaged forever.

Read it.

Dan Gilbert looks like a bitter old man, just classless.
