Daniel Gibson: Thug Angel

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Boobie was just tentative with his dribble. He showed flashes of being effective with his dribble but for whatever reason he never utilizes it.

I always bring this up, but during the LeBron era, last home game of the season, vs the 76ers. LeBron was resting for playoffs and none of the starters played heavy minutes. Boobie went off for 26 and displayed some disgusting head fakes and crossovers in the final minutes. Nailed two incredibly clutch buckets. Still ended up losing (and not setting the record for home wins), but I always wonder why we never see that from him. With LeBron, I think he - and the rest of the team, for that matter - just had the mindset that if LeBron initiates a play, it probably has a better chance of ending up with a bucket than if he started a play. So they just gave it to LeBron every time. It was like pickup ball at the Y and you have a dominant scorer with no #2.

Yeah, but Mo came in and averaged still averaged 16-18 ppg, and about 5 assists. Why Boobie played so passively when given the chance to start is a mystery. Maybe it's just that he kept falling back on that one great game against Detroit where he shot the lights out, and thought that was the type of player he needed to be. So whenever he played with LBJ, he defaulted to that "I'm going to be the guy who hits shots from the wing to spread the floor" mindset, and didn't realize he understand he needed to be more assertive offensively.

He's like the guy who once won the ring toss game at the carnie, and keeps going back to it thinking he'll rekindle that spark, without realizing it was a fluke.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

I think Ellington is going to wipe his arse with gibson. He's got better size, and his jumper is coming along to the point where I'd say he's going to be as automatic as Gibson from three. I'd say gibson just lost any chance of a place on the team in the future with the addition of ellington. I think this guy is flying under the radar among the fans and a dark cloud hangs over miles and gibsons future. He could blow up with kyrie getting him looks.

I agree he likely fills the Boobie roll, but I don't see him blowing up. He's a good three point shooter, but has a slow release, can't/doesn't penetrate, and is an even worse facilitator than Boobie. I think if that skill set would have worked in this offense, Boobie would be getting more minutes than he has.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

True. I think the lack of post play has hurt boobie as well. And the injuries. Kyrie is the only guy on the team over 40% from three that can be counted on. Ellington is coming into his own while boobie seems on his way out. I think Ellington has the momentum boobie lacks. There are minutes available on the wings here for the taking. It does create a problem having kyrie or waiters and 4 guys that can't handle the ball. I think speights will help alleviate the lack of options on offense a bit, and this will open the door for a spot up shooter to be more productive in scotts offense.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

An NBA player shouldn't have a 3pt% higher than their FG%. That's just so wrong.

Coincidentally, Wayne Ellington is pulling that off this season as well as Gibson; but hey, maybe he can stay healthy. Gibson's production just continues to plummet since the first couple weeks of the season.

Cavs Likely To Let Daniel Gibson Go This Summer If Unable To Trade By Deadline

An assortment of injuries has caused [Daniel] Gibson to miss 14 of the Cavs’ 42 games (he also sat out Monday’s practice while sick). Since Gibson has returned, his spot in coach Byron Scott’s rotation appears to have been filled by 6-7 waiver wire acquisition Shaun Livingston.

That, coupled with an expiring contract, has led to speculation the Cavs could move Gibson to a more suitable situation for both parties come the Feb. 21 trading deadline.

If the Cavs are unable to trade Gibson, sources have indicated they’re likely to let him walk via free agency this summer.

I wonder if this means the Cavs are planning on keeping Ellington beyond this year...

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

I think everyone has just gotten sick of all the nagging injuries that he continiously gets year in and year out. When attempting to form continuity with rotations, having someone like Boobie missing games left and right doesn't do anything for stability. It is a shame too because i think he does have value on a good team with his shooting stroke. He also has always had nothing but great things to say about our city. If this is the end of his time with us, i wish him luck and HEALTH!

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

hopefully we can move him to a Texas team so he can be home, maybe thatll fix up a lot of his sickness and stuff. mental health plays a big role in recovery

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Houston would of loved to have varejao. They needed more defense to off set their scoring wings. I bet we could of got aldrich and a first round pick. As it stands we have nothing houston would want. The rockets don't need gibson, they have toney douglas.

Justi give us your unprotected 2014 pick, LA. That would be golden.
