Daniel Gibson: Thug Angel

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

I can't believe they didn't waive him before his contract became fully guaranteed. He's worthless and I look forward to hearing about him having financial issues after basketball is done. If you can't play meaningful minutes on a bad team, you don't belong in the league. Never give a bench guy a long deal like that again. They get fat and don't work to overcome injuries like when they were hungry.

He should thank god he was a 2nd rounder and got to renegotiate quickly as Bron's butt buddy. If he plays out a normal rookie deal he'd have made 50% of what he did.

If this post reflects the sentiment of Cavalier fans, I don't see how we can ever expect loyalty from any player on this team, past or present. Two way street.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Boobie out AGAIN tonight with personal reasons. Could use him at PG with Kyrie out.

I'm not living in Cleveland but I get to see one out of every 2-3 games (give or take a few) and I have yet to Gibson play a minute this year. Swear to God.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Gibson's three point percentage has gone from 41% to 39%. 39% is elite three point shooting. Gibson is still an elite shooter. He has been injury prone.

The gibson role has moved to the wings with the addition of irving, and that has put wing defenders/shooters as more important.

Livingston's rise gives gibson a place on the team. With play making from the wings gibson can play the role c.j. miles and ellington are from point guard again. He does have a role. With out Gibson and with Irving and Livingston defending point guards the cavaliers have been poor defending point guards. Livingston defends shooting guards well, and needs to be paired with a point guard defender. Gibson still makes sense if his health is cleared.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Gibson has no future on this team, none. He hasn't shown much growth in any area of his game. He doesn't have great handles or passing ability. He also doesn't have much success getting to the cup. Sure, he's improved defensively somewhat, but who's he going to primarily guard? Backup PGs?

Also, he's just like AV in that you cannot count on him to play more than 2/3 of a season. The dude just isn't reliable.

I'd rather re-sign Ellington, who's younger, bigger, and has many of the same attributes that Gibson does.

Yea, there is not one thing Gibson brings that Ellington doesn't. And there are things Ellington brings (like legit size) that Gibson doesn't. No reason at all to choose Gibson over Ellington.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Ellington and Gibson can play on the same team. Can never have too much shooting.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Boobie can shoot 39%, but who is going to shoot when there's those 30-50 games per season when he has 0 fitness to play. He also attempts roughly 4 3's per game. If he was healthy as a horse, he'd play all 82 games and shoot 328 threes at 40% which would mean he would make 131 3's over the course of the year.

Of course, fitness and boobie don't happen so this is an imaginary dream sequence.

Instead just replace him with some craptastic replacement level 34% three point shooter, and that guy makes a total of 112 3's per 82 games when attempting 4 per game. So basically we're talking about 1 extra made 3 point basket per 4 games. I suppose that's a lot in the whole scheme of things, and I'm not that up on my advanced NBA metrics. I'd like to think that the 34% shooter guy might be able to stay healthy though, and certainly won't cost you 5m a season.

I would prefer Ellington over Gibson. Period.

Man, what did Boobie ever do to you?

Yeah it's disappointing that he lost his drive to put the time in to get better and the annual injuries that plagued his time here. But it's not like he was a head case or was ever a negative locker room influence. He just seems more centered now on his family life and wife's career.

That being said, I wish him well on his way out, but he no longer has a place on the team. Hopefully if some contender like SA is interested in a 3 point specialist, we can reach a buy-out agreement and send him on his way. Ellington has surprised me and seems to be able to do everything Boobie can do and do it better with the length to defend SGs.

Gibson's roster spot should be given to a more serviceable player.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

People still can't get over this guy putting three fingers up after hitting a three. Boobie, you damn thug you. How do you wish financial problems on Daniel Gibson?

Some contender will take a chance on him as long as they can cover for his deficiencies. He can hit the clutch 3 with the best of em.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

I think the main downfall of Gibson's career wasn't injuries or lack of play making ability. His downfall was poor decision making.

Here is a picture of his bad decision:

Gibson should NOT play in another NBA game ever again. Tonight was a disgrace.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel Gibson?

Yeah, Ellington should be the backup PG right now. Boobie is awful.

Re: Cavs looking to trade Daniel POOPY Gibson?

I know Boobie's not a point guard, but good Lord... How many times do you need to pick up your dribble with no pass in mind one step across half court, try to thread a pass through the hands of 4 defenders, or get intercepted on a lazy cross court lob before you learn not to do that again? I guess he did catch on eventually, but his response was to just start jacking up contested threes instead of trying to run any semblance of an actual offense. That right there is what makes losing Kyrie and Dion so bad. Forget their scoring--it just means that between Kyrie, Dion, and Shaun, we have someone capable of initiating things the right way.
